Tough to answer that succinctly. That used to be a dangerous area of the city, but it has been built up quite a bit in the past five plus years. There's a nice market by there with a ton of good restaurants and bars called Union Market. As far as "touristy stuff" goes the short answer is no. The longer answer is DC is not a big city and can be traveled relatively easily depending on the time of day and week. It wouldn't take you long to get to monuments from there and certainly wouldn't take you long to get to the SW waterfront area which is popular, although not traditionally touristy.

    Mt. Pleasant
    • Each Peach Market - small but interesting and well-curated selection
    • Irving Wine and Spirits - liquor store that gets cool stuff fairly regularly
    Park View
    • Odd Provisions - local focused grocery with a great selection

^ D'vines at 14th and Irving used to be one of the best in the city, but has steadily gone downhill the last few years. Still worth a stop though.

Union Market next door is the closest "attraction," with kinda neat, but kinda bougie, shops and eateries. South a few blocks is H St. NE which is where the best food, bar, and nightlife options in the area are, plus Craft Beer Cellar on 3rd if you need to stock up on even more bottles.
As far as touristy stuff, if you're talking about the 3 Ms - museums, monuments, and the Mall - you could easily walk down to that stuff in 15 or 20 minutes.

I picked one up today. Pricey indeed, but they were still there if anyone else is interested. Looked like they had a couple left at least located behind the customer service counter.

Unfortunately I bought Snallygaster tickets before I realized it was also Zwanze Day, so I'll be out there instead, but have fun!

    Likewise.

Sounds like Snally is getting better each year. I went in 2014 and can barely remember what they had. Welp BAs, here's to smaller lines and not vomiting.

Line updates at Sovereign would be much appreciated. Hoping to swing by around 1130ish and avoid waiting. If last year is any indication, that's a fantasy - hoping Snally + tea-infused lambic scares people off.

Super late reply but inside it's not too crowded. Still plenty of standing room upstairs. No crowd outside

Anybody know when we'll see this year's Born Yesterday in the DMV?

Last year I didn't see it until 7-10 days after bottling, Northern Virginia.

Thanks. I thought Born Yesterday was one of the standout releases of 2016. Hoping this year's is as good.

I agree, if it's anywhere close to the same, I'll be buying a couple cases for sure.

Have a buddy in from out of town... anything good/special on tap around DC right now? Looks like ANXO has Headstash, S&B has Stickee Monkee, and CK has Brandy Angel's Share. Anything else noteworthy?

Damn, Equilibrium huh? Might have to trek up there with Sean. You gonna be around this weekend at all?

    Thanks for the run down!

I'm not around after 4 today, unfortunately.

The Fractal Mosaic is A+, but can't guarantee how long it will make it. Charles Towne Fermentory very similar to the Trillium Fort Point series.
