Our barrel aged and sour programs are too big for Ohio. Had to start sprinkling it around to some other states. 99% of our production is still sold in Ohio.

I hope that means we will have a better chance of drinking your ba beers year round

You should now. They all hit distro, every month. Always 15+ for sale at the taproom.

A fellow BA seems to have picked some up at Kihoskh, via the Latest Haul thread.

I am supposed to get updates for, say, X threads. It seems like every week some % of X never get delivered. I eventually go hunting, thinking, hey - I haven't seen any "latest hauls" posts in awhile. Thanks!

Some pallets showing good carbonation, others still need time. Labels are being ordered this week. I am hoping for a month from now... Exact dates will be posted sooner than later!

Brad, (and this is not meant to be disrespectful or anything), but how can that be possible? With the exception of BB Brick Kiln all your BA stuff comes and goes super quick in Cleveland. People up here can't seem to get enough of the BA stuff and it's spread way, way, way too thin here. Not sure if that's Cavalier or what, but maybe send some more to areas that sell through it quick before sending them elsewhere? I understand you're not sending a ton out, but still.

Not sure if it makes more sense, but when I see stuff sit at the brewery for months or longer sometimes I wonder why not send it where it might sell? Just curious. As always, love the beer. Cheers!

That's because those BA beers get dropped at every Giant Eagle, Heinen's, (insert your local grocery craft beer superstore) with cases. Not by the case. Cases. That's not Brad's fault. That's just the way it is. I'm not complaining about it either. I enjoy buying those for over a month plus when doing my weekly grocery shopping. Nothing like grabbing a couple BB Oro while grabbing some Corn Flakes.

This seems illogical. Are you suggesting if they dropped a smaller amount and/or at fewer stores that it would stick around for longer?

    I don't see how that relates/fixes "D is outstripping S in Cleveland".

This is a Cavalier issue and a retailer issue. Cavalier gets 240 cases of almost every bourbon barrel release with the exception of some of the variants and of course taproom only releases. These sell out of cavaliers stock in about 2 weeks. Then they wait a week or two for the next barrel aged product to come through. BB Brick Kiln has always sat on shelves because no one buys barleywine. Shelf space is at a premium these days and the majority of stores are not interested in stocking 12-20 packaged jackie O's products. If we could sell more in Ohio we would. The complicated logistics of distribution, retail, and demand make this a moving target that is hard to hit and is constantly growing and shrinking. When we have dozens of pallets of beer sitting in our warehouse that are no longer selling in Ohio because new products have filled that spot on the shelf we must sell them elsewhere. Regarding the taproom, it is the source so we hold back product to entice people to visit the brewery and taproom. There has been a drastic slump in taproom traffic now that we send so much barrel aged product into the market now. Which is something that we would like to change as well. Expect lots more limited/taproom only releases in 2018.

For some anecdotal evidence, we live 3 hours away in PA (no distro) and make the trip for the night every 2-3 months for the drafts/food and to pick up bottles of 4-5 different types of stuff that has accumulated and not sold out. If they only had 1-2 types of stuff we wanted because it all goes out to distro, we wouldn't make the trip. I am sure it is frustrating for those in Ohio wanting more distro so they don't have to drive all the way from Cleveland but we appreciate the stocked shelves.

Ohio is not that big. Stop whining and visit the taproom if you're desperate for bottles. They're producing a lot now so planning ahead is easy. Drink and eat at the Public house while you're at it.

Yeah, I figured it was more of a Cavalier/retailer issue overall, but was curious for some insight straight from the source. Thanks for always taking the time to reply Brad and let us know what's going on. Truly appreciate it sir! Despite it being a 5 - 5 1/2 hr round trip me and a friend always make sure to come down and visit as often as we can too! Love it.

    Who's whining?

BB beers are finding themselves on shelves in California, Virginia, and even Copenhagen! That's great for JO!

In Ohio, they'll show up on local shelves and sell out on a single day, which is also great for JO, but!...

Those beers do not return to those shelves for at least the next 12 months, and you're often limited to one or two bottles per person. So, if they're experiencing massive build up of these kinds of beers in storage, it's certainly not for lack of demand in Ohio.

Then again, it depends on which beers we're talking about building up. If it's the saisons, then that's understandable--the price on those can be very high, and the local market just isn't into the style on the whole.

However, if it's the bourbon barrel aged beers, sure, we might be able to find BB Oil and BBBK here or there, but if you're looking for anything else bourbon barrel aged and not following beer releases like the rest of us nerds, you're SOL. Not everyone can easily clear 8-10 hours just to go pick up some beer, and there's certainly an intense demand for many of their BB beers.

Really, those are valid points, and there's no reason to shoot people down for raising them. This doesn't need to be a glowing praise 24/7 thread, as if there's fear of excommunication for being anything but worshipful. It's not even really a complaint...just a reality that both the consumer and brewer continue to evolve in. :beers:
