Holy shit, is this really what time everyone needs to get there? What was the latest time last year that people arrived and still got bottles? I couldn't make it last year but I didn't have any problems getting beer in years past (arriving about 7:30-8ish). I was planning on arriving about 7am, grabbing a spot in line and sharing some brews.

I believe the cutoff last year for people arriving and getting their bottles was around 7:30-8:30am or somewhere around there. Every year it has been earlier and earlier, so I guestimated and thought by 4am would be a good time to say you would probably for sure get bottles.

I could be waaay off, or right on the money or close. Who knows. Just trying to be helpful.

I plan on sleeping in this. Anyone think it will be an issue?

We were planning on using a pop-up camper in line but thought the better of taking the cautious approach. It would be a major PITA if you needed to move that out of the line or if they didn't want that parked in the street; especially if you'd been drinking. Completely IMO but if you can get away with it, go for it.

My thoughts on my trailer are this, it doesn't take up much room, it would be parked on the opposite side of the street from the line or in a parking lot, I've got a big heater and lights for guys who want to get out of the cold for a while and I'd park it in the direction of exit as to not mess up foot and auto traffic. Plus, I've got a cot I can sleep on when on when I get tired. It'll be hooked to my truck at all times too....

If you show up early, maybe. It's a pretty small industrial park, finding a spot to park a truck/trailer combo could be an issue. Especially with 30 other people with the same idea of bringing RV's, pop up campers, etc. I could be wrong here, but I have a feeling that this year's DD is going to be more insane than ever.

Forums like these just add to the hype, everybody knows that everybody else is going early so they will too. I expect the line to have 1000+ people before the sun even comes up. A few years ago it was 5-10 people camping, I expect more like 50-100 this year judging by what people have said on here.

I got there at 630am last year, and had to park my CAR across the highway at Caribou which was overflow parking. Parking is slim pickin's in that area.

Since you're asking, if you're too much of a puss to ride a bike, your personal share of the very limited parking space is 1/4 of a car space. Assuming your rig takes up 5 car spaces, just bring 19 passengers, no problem. I think the answer to your question is nobody's going to stop you.

Too much of a puss? That's a little uncalled for. Also, I'm not going to ride a bike from Rochester to BC. It would be completely unrealistic.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings. I know people who ride that far, so its not COMPLETELY unrealistic. Unfortunately, however, I am not one of those people either.

but do those people drink all night and then ride back with 6 bottles of beer plus whatever else they brought with?

I honestly don't understand the appeal of camping at DD. Just more shit to deal with. I would think if you were coming from out of town that a local hotel and a cab would be much, much easier. You're going to end up drunk at some point during the festivities, probably for most of it. The less people driving the better.

only issue I see is that it takes up two spots (connected to your vehicle), which people might frown upon. Might regulate, might not. It probably depends on how many show up. Dont want this to become "Shanty Town"

The appeal would be: fun, beer, friends old & new. Pretty simple.

people forget, they open up bottle sales at 5 that evening. So if you dont want to camp out and enjoy/share delicious beer and "tailgate" for the best god darn beer event of the year, then dont. Show up at 4, listen to some metal, look at the beer list you missed out on, sigh, then go buy some bottles. Then turn around, sigh again when you see the remains of a helluva event, then walk to your car, turn up Kenny G. in your CD player/musical device and motor on home. Then..... (here's the good part) turn your nose up to all of us who will be sharing great stories/horror stories, new friends they made/old friends they havent seen in awhile and go on with your weekend. No harm, no foul. You get your beer you desire, and we get some memories that will stay with us for forever..... for forever.
