Had friends who stopped by the tap room for the first time and said Simcoe was no good. This is clearly in line with other folks on this forum, and it's too bad. Is consistency becoming an issue with the expansion and increased production? Also, why does everything have to be DDH'd now? Whatever happened to a good ol DIPA or IPA?

OH is doing a nearly even split of ddh/non-ddh branding.

Little late, but noticed that people seem to be saying positive things about this latest batch of DDH Stacks on Untappd, etc. I remember it being super earthy and vegetal when I last had it a few months ago (not necessarily a bad thing, just not what I'm looking for all the time). Anyone have thoughts on this recent batch?

I didn't much care for any of the simcoe beers OH had brewed prior to that DDH Forever Simcoe earlier this summer that tasted like sappy dank pineapple juice (sorry for all the cliche descriptors). So yeah, the new one is different- and my palate has changed too- but I like the current batch on its own.

Based on my Untappd checkins, maybe that one batch we're all comparing it to now is actually the off batch!

That's what I was told, all cans are sold out. Really thought they would have HS left based on comments but no luck.

So I might brave the Other Half line for the first time this weekend since it's a good looking release, plus it'll probably start getting chilly after this weekend. Any recommendation for when I should arrive on line?

    11pm Friday.

Or like 8:30-9am if you want all beers

I think you're asking the wrong question- it's not WHEN should go there but how early can you STAND to be there. I always figured if I had to have the beer, I could get work done on a laptop or whatever, and make the four or five hours spent waiting semi-productive.

I hate waiting though, I just can't do it. Godspeed.

at least for the last few releases you were able to walk in after like 2 with no lines and get 2-3 of the beers released. However, given the collabs this week, not sure what the selection may be later in the afternoon.

I'm on record here stating that I think the best beers OH does are not their collabs; based on what I had from last week DDH AEE was the best-in-class and those cans lasted two days.

Absolutely agree. I only get excited about a collab when it's something different, hence my excitement for Bellwoods. I feel collabs are mostly for hype. Even Chief O'Neil said on the Steal This Beer podcast that when he went to OH to make Nummy Nug Nug, he just sat around and drank beers all day and didn't take credit for the beer itself.

I gotta chime in on the DDH forever simcoe issue here... i think it's way overblown. Had one last night and I think it's delicious. If it were my first time having it, I'd think the same. I think the last batch had more haze and was a little sharper, but not so different to think something drastic had changed. Just my $.02
