This is a real confusing thread. So it's the "shit on the brewery because they quote-unquote sold out" mentality. It's really none of my business because I live 3000 miles away but who gives a good fuck what they started off with making? It's just like Shorts (for Michigan by Michigan) selling to Lagunitas or any other brewery who tries to make a few extra bucks making a different type of beer instead of, you know, going bankrupt.

I was drinking Duvel, Corsendonk and the such 20 plus years ago and, honestly, the only reason Monkish was even on my radar is because they collabed with Other Half (which happens to be in my neck of the woods...read those threads, it's a hoot) awhile back. Didn't even know they were in Torrance til the guy at TW told me.

I know this was no shot at me but to shit on the brewery for going with what the kids on the street drink is...I don't know? Smart?

I should add, the brewery can't do anything about the mules. From reading through the thread that's the biggest problem (and the brewery, from what I've read, lowers the limits) and, I hate to break it to you guys and gals (sure you probably know anyway), Monkish is hardly the only brewery where the muling, allocation exceeding, general douchebaggery, et al, happens. It's a topic of discussion in many of the Mid-Atlantic threads (I see @jrnyc frequents this thread) and always leads to some spirited discussion.

My only point in my last post though, is I don't blame the brewery for going in that direction, a business needs capital and profit to sustain itself and the people/families involved.

I wouldn't worry about it dude. It's the same elitist jerks months after month with quasi-racist jokes and rants about 'haze laborers'. You'd think they invented craft beer the way they talk. You truly should not be concerned about the 'respect' of these people.

Respect for me? They should respect that brewery they have right in their own backyard. There ain't shit Monkish can do about the crap that goes on in the beer world.

    Well that escalated quickly.....
It's all nonsense other than the "quasi racist" comment up there. I literally LOL'ed.
Henry and Adriana have every right to brew what they want. I don't think anyone has ever said anything to the contrary. I've stood in line for cans and growlers. It's good beer.
Look, I just want Magnificat on tap and bottles during Christmas time and I'm a happy camper.
Carry on being da beer bad boy.

Nobody was talking shit about the brewery, they were talking shit about the neckbeards who ruin the vibes of the cool brewery.

Does this mean I'm not #newmoney if I remember the days seeing that sign?
On another note , I'm hoping next month has a big online sour bottle release... I can dream!

Look, I wasn’t making any claim about you being racist. I don’t track who says what, but I’ve seen enough posts in this thread that amount to: because these people are browner than me, or talk about beer differently than me and my neck beard cicerone friends, or seem to be of lesser socio-economic standing... well then, they couldn’t possibly enjoy the beer and are solely into it for resale, and I just imagine the amount of resale going on is grossly overstated.

IPAs are more popular than Belgians in the US, probably by an order of magnitude, and Monkish’s perceived quality and scarcity have put a considerable demand on them.

People need to spend less time here wringing their hands and divining the intent of those in line, or casting aspersions for enjoying the type of beers they enjoy.

People should just drink beer and not give a fack about the rest.
i understand that, hence my second post. The vibes at cool breweries are getting messed with at breweries all over the country was my point in the first place.

Long story, already not short, drink what you want, ignore the rest (there ain't nothing you can do about it) and enjoy what's in your glass.

I'll enjoy what's in my glass. I'll also enjoy being a crazy racist ("quasi," get it ) and reading about those kooky guys lining up when they don't even know if there is a release that day. Highlarious.

I never went to Monkish before they starting doing IPAs. I only go for their IPAs and couldn't care less about their belgians.

edit: I should add I also think their can releases have a lot of lame/greedy people at them and if you are selling their beer on secondary markets then fuck you.
