Hoping to get the skinny on any BAs in the area that might need me to bring a couple bottles back. Most of my cellar will be staying behind for convenience purposes, and of those I could only part with a Fruet, Black Butte 24th aniversary, an 08 BCBS 12oz, and some Firestone stuff that you guys probably already got. Also hoping to get some recommendations for shops/bars/breweries in Macomb/Tristate area/even Chicago will be most appreciated as I plan on spending a weekend there before November is up. I'm really looking forward to putting back some world class brews with some fellow BA's.

Guess I'm gonna be the bearer of bad news. Macomb is gonna be very disappointing for you. I would bring all you could carry. Best bet from there would be in the mid-west forums talking to St. louis BA's. Good luck and safe travels!

Your best bet for anything good will be in Peoria, then the Quad Cities. Neither are that close. There is a group of us up here in the QC that get together regularly(usually weekly, sometimes more or less often) to share some beers and generally have a good time. Let me know and I'll give you some directions.

Also, good luck not getting syphilis from the drinking water.

Thanks for the invite, I'll be sure and hit you up when I'm out that way.
Please tell me those college kids at WIU aren't getting syphilis in my drinking water....

You're welcome up here any time. We're mostly good people, except me. I'm a terrible bastard.

Don't worry ... you'll get used to it. They sell antibiotics out of vending machines at WIU, just stop on campus and grab some. They're usually next to the Cheetos.

If I had a dollar for every person that I know that got crabs in Macomb, I would have lots of dollars. Itchy, itchy dollars.

I'll be the first documented case of beard crabs on BA. Just you watch.

My parents live in Macomb, I grew up in the area. It's pretty desolate as far as craft beer goes. The only stores in town that I found with anything resembling a selection are West Pierce Liquors, and a little wine shop on the square called The Wine Sellers where I got some Juliet. Bars... well, not much to speak of, but at least they're really cheap compared to the city.

You're in the middle of nowhere, so a drive to QC/Peoria is faster than some city->suburb drives, and pretty much necessary to go do anything. Chicago is a 3.5 hour train ride, and well worth it.

Larry A's is the correct pizza. Godspeed.

What is anymore? The original in Homewood from the original stove?

Interesting to note that the son of the founder of Aurelio's founded Larry A's, in Macomb to boot. What are the pizzas I should gravitate to/steer clear from?

Since we deviated from beer, my wife grew up in a small town 30 min from Macomb and say you should check out Chicken Lips.... South side of the square...

I'll be over there on the 24th of Oct. Do you need a care package from Chicago?
