Props to the guys from Guys Drinking Beer for providing the info.

Any other guesses on what this might be?

“Ald. Pawar brought the most mysterious news, as he announced that an unnamed “major chain” plans to open a brew pub near Lawrence and Ravenswood Aves. Pressed for further details after the meeting, Pawar would only say the owners are waiting to file their paperwork once the development timeline for the Mariano’s and the Lawrence Ave. streetscape are solidified.”

Wow, this will be right end of the route of our Annual German Pub Crawl, so maybe it will be a Gordon Biersch?

I loved this quote further down the page:
    That is funny and true!

... even though Hopleaf is less than a mile away?

Great news. I live very close to Lawrence and Ravenswood, and I'm excited to see what goes in. 3 Floyds Chicago location? Maybe a Lagunitas northside outpost?

Andersonville (Hopleaf, Jerry's, Acre) is closer to that neighborhood than Lincoln Square. So whatever opens, they'll have some pretty stiff competition less than a mile away.

As far as... "hoping that they’d bring some knowledgeable minds and good beers to a part of the city that still hasn’t really left Bavaria when it comes to beer choices," Andersonville (Hopleaf, Jerry's, Acre) is closer to that neighborhood than Lincoln Square. So whatever opens, they'll have some pretty stiff competition less than a mile away.

Major Chain would suggest a RAM or something similar, no?
