I really liked Freaky Deaky (Belgian breakfast stout with coffee, maple syrup and smoked malt), so I could see a coffee stout of theirs being great.

Freaky used cold-press from Heritage Bikes (according to Corridor's website), so I wouldn't be surprised if they're using Heritage coffee again.

I asked the bartender about the coffee type, and he wasn't sure. He said he thought it was a generic whole foods organic brand, so whatever that means. But its a single stout, 5.8% ABV. Fairly strong coffee flavor, medium mouthfeel. A bit of spice on the end which was the only part that threw me off a bit. Still very enjoyable though. Just not as balanced as say Breakfast Stout (which, yes, I understand is a double).

Stopped in at Corridor earlier today and tried the new coffee Stout. Pours a nice chestnut brown with a light tan head. Light coffee aroma followed by roasted malt. Flavor starts out with a hit of coffee followed by bitter chocolate, roasted malt and a hint of spice . Love the flavor that Corridor has coaxed out of this 5.8% coffee Stout. Really hits the sweet spot for me at this ABV and is definitely easy drinking.

Also got to try the new Fest beer I thought that was pretty solid as well. Grabbed a crowler for take home so hopefully I get a review in the next couple of days

    Cheers

Cold-press coffee , huh. With all that caffeine in cold press that must have been like drinking a liquid speedball. LOL

You realize that lots of brewers use cold brew for their beers, right?

I did not know this but it explains a few restless nights because I mostly drink decaf. Lol
Guess it would keep things cleaner over all as well. Do you know what part of the brewing cycle they add the cold brew ?

I think that Goose just literally blends the liquid cold brew into BCBCS. I assume others do the same, but honestly I don't know. I always thought they just "dry-hopped" the wort with beans, but it seems that brewed coffee is the best way to get coffee flavor without over-extraction leading to overt bitterness. Someone with more brewing knowledge can probably chime in more.

We dry hopped Starfish & Coffee with 9lbs of coarse ground beans roasted by Allegro. It steeped for 24hrs and was removed before transfer.

    Ok, back to the beer!

Had a delightful day at corridor yesterday, post kayaking. Brought some folks who had not been before.

Went with the coffee, the Ryder, and the salute your simcoe, and some snacks. Ryder was the standout, but i like Radio Swan a bit more.

Ryder was phenomenal. I didn't care for the coffee stout. It was quite bitter and not very creamy. Did SYS just tap today? I didn't see it on yesterday.

SYS was on instead of CJB (yesterday, around 3 or so). Wasn't on the menu
