TBC gets 2 beers in the Top 5 of the recent Paste Magazine list of top 176 DIPAs / Imperial IPAs in the country. Very well deserved! https://www.pastemagazine.com/artic...t-dipaimperial-ipas-blind-tasted-and.html?a=1

    #2. Triple Crossing Interstellar Burst
    City:
    Richmond, VA
    ABV: 8%
The verdict: The notes from one of the tasters on this beer begin with “This is how you do it. Tropical fruitstorm.” Yes, it’s the second entry from Triple Crossing in the span of four beers. Across all 176 entries, they are the only brewery to land two different beers in the final. And not just in the final, but in the TOP FREAKIN’ FIVE of the final. And it’s not like they just squeaked in, either—these were basically unanimous selections. In the entire time we’ve been blind-tasting beers, the only similar accomplishment I can think of was Grimm landing two different DIPAs in the top 5 of the previous DIPA tasting, in 2015. This is some seriously rarified air, is what I’m getting at. Suffice to say, Interstellar Burst is a particularly stellar example of NE-IPA. Impossibly smooth and luxurious on the palate, it’s like drinking a cloud—except it’s a cloud of the best juice bar smoothie you’ve never deigned to pay $9 for. From one score sheet: “Ridiculously soft and juicy, tons of passionfruit and peach. Damn.” From another sheet: “I could drink too many of these—not a bad thing.” As the latter would suggest, perhaps the most impressive thing about Interstellar Burst is that it has that rare quality of drinkability that sometimes eludes even great NE-IPAs, which can be bogged down by a combination of chewiness and residual sweetness that rob them of a chance at being called “refreshing.” Triple Crossing is making some of the best takes on this style that we’re currently able to imagine.

    #4. Triple Crossing Ivory Tower
    City:
    Richmond, VA
    ABV: 8%
The verdict: Theory: Richmond, Virginia is secretly the best IPA city in the United States—and thus the world. Evidence: The Veil. Hardywood Park. The Answer Brewpub. And last, but certainly not least, Triple Crossing. These guys are Richmond’s secret weapon, and it’s not a new development—they’ve been a great brewery for quite a while, and one that hasn’t received the praise and national attention that was due to them. In 2016, their Jurassic Park-themed Clever Girl IPA placed in the finals of our 247 IPA blind tasting, but when it came to DIPA this year there was no denying that they were the absolute stars of the show. This one, the “lesser” of their two entries, is a gorgeously fruity NE-IPA with loads of grapefruit and orange citrus, chased by resin and an unusual, almost minty herbaceous quality that lends complexity. From one score sheet: “Wonderfully bright and fruity, plenty of juicy peach, grapefruit and pine.” It’s hard to believe that the same brewery produced another DIPA that was even better.

On that note, 2 cans releasing on Friday (10/6). The first has been confirmed. The Waxing Poetic someone posted in another group it was showing on the release board over the weekend so that's pretty reliable.

    - All Neon Like IPA: Big notes of peach and orange are everywhere. The dry hopping regime was more aggressive this time and will certainly show up on the aroma side of things. The pillowy, delicate and soft mouthfeel makes this 6% beer a crusher.

    - Waxing Poetic w/ Blackberry and Mango: Our tart, infinitely refreshing take on the Berliner Weisse style. This version has been fruited with blackberry and mango.

Brought this over from the veil thread (seems silly to keep talking TC there) but I agree with this - Clever Girl and Falcon Smash are both great and it's nice they're usually around. I can't really say much about their stouts but that lager they have tasted nice, but my cans were dead flat - basically zero carbonation. Ruined that beer for me.

After seeing that Paste article I'm really upset I didn't carve out time to visit Triple Crossing on my first RVA trip. There is always next time.

Falcon Smash (38th) and Clever Girl (17th) made the list last Fall when Paste did their top 247 IPAs (7.9% and below) as well.

No more than 15 total customers there around 6:30 pm today. This one should stick around for a while. Crazy, too, because its really good. If the Veil or Answer packaged and sold this exact beer, people would go nuts for it.

Valhalla (100% Citra) DIPA cans return Fri., 10/20 @ Noon at Fulton. Estimating 250 cases.

If they stick to the limits done in the past for this amount of cases you should expect 1 case (6x 4-packs) per person. Priced at $16.50 per.

254 cases of Valhalla. Without looking back at the numbers, that seems like the most of a single beer I can remember them doing.

Looking back it's up there with the highest to date. They also had 254 during the release over the Summer. 256 cases of Battle Creek for that same release looks to still be the most.

if anyone is curious how long Valhalla will last I would say easily through the weekend. of the 254 cases released in June, 60 carried over to Saturday. I doubt today will be anywhere near as busy since the Summer release did include BC beside it.

Any idea if the breweries for East Coast Covenant event on Nov 11th will be releasing the beers they will be pouring? Thx!

I think the batch of Valhalla is a lot better than the last. No hint of the dank onion I got last time. They still have cans of Waxing Poetic downtown too, which is insane considering its a better beer (IMO) and $5.50 cheaper than Veil's NNGG, which sold out day-of.

I agree with this, great batch of Valhalla.

I was able to swing by for lunch on Friday - zero line at noon but a steady flow of cases walking out. All the times I've been there I'd never had the pizza - definitely enjoyed it. The big win was that they still had WP cans. It's gotta be one of the best they've released in that series.
