From those photos it looks very much on the darker end of the color scale for a Kolsch. Lemon/grapefruit also isn't expected, I guess its a Huell Melon characteristic. Again I feel that maybe the delicate styles do not lend themselves to #innovation

I found it in a local store, but the web locator did not show it in my area @Urk1127 .

I really like this beer a lot, but I have to admit that it tastes very similar to The Crisp to me. I picked up a couple cans of Crisp too, I'll have to do a side-by-side.

Looks like it would make a good schower beer

I would image that the crisp would be much more bitter and pronounced on the hop aromatics and lager yeast strain compared to this one.

I think I saw where you have been to Cologne. Is there a particular Koelsch from Cologne you'd say this one resembles?

Perhaps Jack - but I'm sure the West Coast IPA and the NEIPA are not pleasing to the old school English IPA traditionalists either!

If you truly want an "authentic" Kolsch, the only place to go is Cologne.

If you want the next evolution of formulations, American craft and homebrew is where its at!

Banned, eh? If the app does not work for you, we will be able to point you in the right direction.

The photos/filters do make it appear a little bit darker than the actual color of the beer. I personally did not get any lemon or grapefruit flavors, its mostly a clean flavor profile for me and IMHO the pilsner malt is what I can taste the most.

The Crisp and this one both use Pilsner malt, but they have completely different hop profiles, and different yeast strains as well. The Crisp will have about 2-2.5x the amount of bitterness/perceived bitterness as well.

Perhaps Reissdorf, with a little more bitterness and ester profile.

    @Sixpoint

I just bought a pack but have yet to open one. Some questions:

Wasn't this released as draft only some month ago? I feel like I saw it on tap, but could be remembering wrong. Was that a test run so to speak?

What made you decide to put out a Kolsch?

Any long term plans? Is this a seasonal (if so, why now), a year-round, or a one shot deal?

    Thanks for any info.

I used the beer locator and no dice on the kold shauer. I know the two stores in my area that carry you. Just need to know the probability of them having it right now and if not then when. And yea. I worked for spirits and got let go over some he said/she said stuff. My word wasnt as strong as theres in the end apparently. So i dont go there anymore.

Anyway im looking in Shell Liqours in Long Beach Island and Tuckerton Liqours.

Yes, it was released on draft going all the way back to 2016 actually. We typically start the formulation process as small batch draft and then potentially scale from here.

What made us decide to put it out is we actually had a consensus amongst our staff that it was one of our best beers we had been making the past year....we wanted to share it with our fans/customers and there are not a lot of these on the market (just yet).

For now this is a one-shot deal....but if people enjoy it, I would not rule out bringing it back.

Ok, when we launch version 4.0 of our new app, it will integrate the beer finder with the small batch canning series....will give you more up-to-date, relevant results. For now, @SixpointJMH can probably lead you in the right direction.

Hey hey - so, we've got a bit of a data lag at the moment, which means I'm manually gathering info for you. Right now, all of the stores I've been given in your area are Spirits locations (Crossroads, Forked River and Manahawkin) which I know does you no good. I'll keep digging and get back to you.

I can get to crossroads (toms river) and forked river. Lol. Manahawkin is a no go. Dont want the drama of going in there. Im very recognizable because of my thousands of tattoos Lol. Thanks a lot!

No worries, and for what it's worth, Crossroads was a definite and Forked River was very likely but not 100% confirmed. Remember too the once per week delivery for Hunterdon, which means the beer may have been sold/invoiced but not actually delivered yet.

Thanks. I remember we'd get a hunterdon delivery every wednesday. If i dont see it this weekend, will look again next, unless the app tells me later that tuckerton liqours has it. Which is a smidge closer. Cheers!

Does anyone remember if this used to be a draft only beer? The website update since the reformulations and app release somehow made it less informative.
