I say you can't go wrong at either city! If you ever get a chance hit up the beer scene in southern Maine! Portland area is loaded with great brews. Allagash, Maine beer company, Bissell brothers, rising tide, foundation, peak organic, sebago, and mast landing to name a few. There is also The Maine Brew Bus. Good times.

Being in Houston puts me right on the Mississippi River-divide.

My brother is in Michigan (great beer state!) hence - this debate!

Thanks for adding the poll! The post directly above you says Boston - hence what makes this debate so tough.

    Thanks for the post!

All great responses! Thanks for the lively devate Advocates!

In truth, its really only a matter of time before my bro & I can say we've hit both cities.

I sincerely appreciate everyones response. I love this online beer community. To me, BA.com has the most mature and educated beer communities out of anywhere else online. To that end, Ill keep you posted on which city we decide to hit first.

Again - all the feedback is emmensely appreciated.

    CHEERS!

Trve, comrade, casey, crooked stave, great divide, epic, avery, funkwerks, trinity plus we get distro from belks, surly, jacks abbey, and add in weldwerks and odd 13, plus zwei and bierstadt and Denver is looking pretty amazeballs.

I live in the Boston area and I'd say Denver for sure. Boston isn't that amazing of a beer town. Greater Boston area is pretty good. I'd still say Denver. FYI, many breweries in the greater Boston area don't make or specialize in what everyone calls NE IPAs.

Is it Boston v Denver or New England v Denver?

If you come up to Boston and intend to stay inside city limits and/or where the trains will take you then, while there are still some great options, you won't be finding as much in terms of all these world class NE-IPA's. Treehouse is two, moving on three, hours west of Boston and doesn't make it into the city. Heady Topper doesn't leave Vermont. Etc.

Toss a car and a willingness to drive into the mix and suddenly it's a whole new ballgame. You can do a Boston to Maine run in a day, Boston to Burlington, Vermont in two (yes, you CAN in one day but two makes it comfortable.) You can hang out at a Treehouse line for whatever they are canning that week.

Boston has a good beer scene and my sense is Denver has an excellent beer scene. None of us is as strong as all of us, though, and New England as a group is hard to beat.

I vote Boston, there are probably more really good breweries per square mile. The breweries are easy to visit because of the closeness of the area and Vermont and Maine are easily reachable for day trips.

I have lived in both. I would vote Boston with the caveat that you need to go to Burlington, VT and hit Waterbury, and Stowe along the way. It is a great scenic drive. If you don't have enough time to do that then I would vote Denver for the city / beer scene itself.

I love the Blackback pub, talk about a very little place with lots of character, HF, Lawsons on tap. Then you can walk across the street for some Alchemist beers at Probation Pig and some good food. As long as your in the area 3 Penny in Montpieler is a great bar, they've got everything worth drinking. The only negative is Boston traffic it's ungodly bad, but that's not the case outside the area.

Not only beer, but botanicals, its closer to texas and bostons hyped breweries seem to be more elusive and most likely way more expensive.

    "Supposed to"

Jersey has been "supposed to" even just decriminalize it for years. It takes so long if at all.

well MA passed the law but it goes into effect July 2018, of course many towns are fighting it.

once Christie is gone i hope, it feels like he's been the dictator ruling NJ for the past century. it feels like he's been in charge forever.

if local breweries keep pumping out great beers hopefully i can drink through the election and his leaving of office

I've been to both, and Boston is great, but I'd go Denver all day.

Sounds like you can't go wrong here, my friend

Denver - perhaps not just Denver literally, but that part of Colorado. I'd do Odell and Oskar Blues for sure.

Tough choice, I've never been to Boston so I say Denver, based on how many quality craft breweries are in CO and the fact that Colorado is just sparkling gorgeous.
