TBH they kind of are. Exploiting Gangster’s Bday to sell more cans. Sad.

Gangsta cat is adorable tho, back when the old taproom was open with the side part I've had her sit on my lap for hours.

I think the lack of haze might be due to centrifuging? I was talking to Andre about it today it.

Was at Other Half yesterday around 3:30pm with a few friends. The place was surprisingly packed. We basically got a 4oz of everything on tap. Some highlights:

Double Citra Daydream was fantastic, as was OH..., and Citra Daydream. Both Dare I Say...., and Stacks on Stacks were good. Everything else was fairly run of the mill.

I thought High Ballers on Death Mountain was an overly complex beer that didn't come together to form anything memorable, or good for that matter. I was originally going to go to this release to buy a 4-pack of this and I'm glad I didn't, it was kind of a mess.

The Zamboni offering tasted like stale brownie. Perhaps interesting enough as a 4oz, but never would have purchased as a 4-pack, and really can't imagine having to drink as a 16oz can.

As has been mentioned, given that this weekend's release didn't have any standouts, and coupled with a warm Columbus Day weekend in which I imagine many people escaped the city, ringing the death knells for OH is simply uncalled for. They clearly have the ability to produce absurdly good new beers (e.g. DDH Double Citra Daydream, Triple Cream, Green Power), and have a plethora of tried and true beers that will bring the butts to the 8am line. And we all know that if a mere Teku glass were released we might not even be having this conversation.

doom and gloom is waiting in Gowanus at 6am for an IPA. I'm predicting much more sane and happier times.

I agree! I thought Dare I Say was extremely underrated. Because of the collaborating brewer's reputation and the batch size- it just wasn't trendy enough for line lyfe dudes. They're a fickle beast and for a while OH was the biggest wave. Now with OH's increased production and outside competition they're settling back into the pack. Awesome news for me! If I'm wrong, then they've really upp'd their game like they had with the previous micro-trend.

Shortly after Grimm's first can release happened and after the Triliuml collab Street Green— OH transitioned to DDH everything. Like Whoa opened their eye's up to changing a few notes on a scale (colors of can labeling=patterned vegetable icons) to great rewards. Other local breweries have caught on to this trend and can offer something that OH can not (newness). Now they either have to grow the market or dominate the competition. I see the market expanding beyond neck beard beer nerds and #linelyfe dudes and the competition getting stiffer. It's going to be interesting to see what develops. I will say that HVB sour IPA's are on the forefront of the beer nerd's palettes'. Their aesthetic is on point and their location is prime. I could see them overtaking the throne in the coming months. Especially after having Lembeek 86.

I am sure OH never could have imagined they would become so successful when they first opened. And as good businessman they know #linelife can't fuel their business long term. Hype will die down, but that vacuum will be filled by sane people who just want to show up at brewery at a normal hour and grab a couple of six packs with no hassles.

Serious question: what time did you have to get up for the Hudson valley line?

Serious answer: I didn’t wait in line or grab any cans. I had planned a trip up to hudson with the wife and friends and got up to beacon around 11:20 for brunch but the place we went to wasn’t open. I saw the HVB line and it was pretty long and with 3 cans/apparel/glassware knew it would take forever. Instead we went further upstate for food and hit it up on the way down. They had already sold out but it was still incredibly busy!

The guys at OH will be fine. DDH Double Citra Daydream is killer. I'm bringing a slew of their cans from the last two releases with me to the West Coast later this week for friends and family; not many beers worth that baggage check fee but I gotta share these fine ales and represent NYC.

Drinking a Twice Baked Potato I found in the back of the fridge. This beer hasn’t skipped a beat. Still insanely delicious.

I picked up a growler of DDH Stacks about two weeks, and it was the clearest OH IPA I've had in well over a year. Like, minimal (if any) opacity. That said, I thought it was delicious and a bit better than previous batches (more sweet n fruity vs. bitter and vegetal).

Haze does not a good NEIPA make!

Went to the taproom today, ordered DDH Mylar and DDH forever simcoe and both beers seemed way different apperence wise from batches I’ve had before, I’ve had these beer plenty but something seemed a little off about them. Any difference in the cans this batch around?

    Helles and a non-dessert stout?

Nice to see some variety. I'd be interested to see if there is even a line after 10:45a next Saturday.
