I know we've talked about it before, the distro vs buying directly from the brewery method etc. But I have to be honest, the Chicago distro shelf beer scene is pretty nice right now when you count that newest Hubbard's Cave V6, Overhaze from Marz, and those Saint Errant beers. I've only been living in Chicago since end of Feb/beginning of March of this year, and the NE scene here has progressed incredibly in that short period of time.

And that's not even mentioning the top notch stuff like Forbidden Root, Corridor, etc.

I know toppling is barely in the Chicago market but being so close to canning “the good stuff” produced in Iowa. DDH Pseudo Sue is 11.99 a bomber now, (thanks CJW) at that price point it’s $35 a four pack.

Transient in Bridgman, MI makes Juice is Loose. Popped a can in honor of OJ's release last Sunday.

Yup, that's why I thought their choice in name was funny. Sounds like maybe either Beeronaut got it wrong, or they changed the name after all.

No, I've paid than more for four-packs of 16oz. cans. And yeah, I agree with you. Not sure where I implied that I have a problem paying a premium for beer that I enjoy. I just would rather buy Forbidden Root cans or Corridor crowlers for NEIPAs than take a chance on Marz (even if it is getting good press here).

They named the beer long before his parole, but long after his arrest....

Gotcha. I'm with you there. I still have a 4 pack of Radio Swan in my fridge that I need to crack. Definitely spent a ton on 4 packs when I was out east last fall haha. People were giving Overhaze decent reviews so I figured I'd roll the dice. It is a very good beer. I think I would've preferred to be charged another buck or two for 16 oz cans though. Meh I'm over it. Cheers!

They changed the name, most likely because they didn't know how to do a cursory search for beer names...when will brewers learn?

So if we are talking the value of beers, im not sure why anyone is complaining about Marz. They've never hidden from the fact that they sell a premium product.

If you want to be ballin on a budget, drink more hailstorm. 10.99 for pretty much every 4pk they make

I think most people take issue with the fact that most Marz is nothing special. Looks like this newest offering may be worth it, but that's an anomaly in what is mostly an overpriced product to many consumers.

Also, the word "premium" has lost all meaning. What about their product is any more "premium" than, say, Hailstorm's beer (for the record, I don't even like Hailstorm)? To me, it's all marketing with Marz, and I just don't see where the cost is justified.

Funny thing is that I did just drink a The Substance from BB like an hour ago with @semibaked . Good stuff. Now, Nothing Gold by BB, that beer is down right incredible.

I refuse to be inundated by both non-Chicago New England IPA's AND unnecessary beer acronyms in the same thread...BLASHPHEMY!

Sorry guess I just got excited with the New England IPA list and may had a few too many when I posted that.
