No it's not. FOMO is paying a premium just because something is trending. BT Reserve is literally worth the premium because it takes twice the amount of fresh barrels and an extra year in warehouse space to produce than regular BT.

mate, just because some bird shit sat on the ground for 200 years doesnt mean you should eat it. FOMO is when you prioritize the words on the beer label over the taste of the beer itself

That doesn't make any sense. You can't taste a beer without first acquiring it and the higher price of BT Reserve is justified by the extra cost it takes to produce it. You picked the wrong beer to argue this point on, you're just wrong.

huh? I was assuming that it had been tried by the people talking.....

point is that cost to produce has no inherent correlation with value delivered to customer.

Sorry this isn't how goods are priced in a market; it ignores the demand side of the process. Cost and price are correlated since most producers have an idea of the market price for a good. However, look at the housing crash as an extreme example. Many, many people were forced to sell houses under cost.

Beer is a little different in that most sales occur before you get to try it. The market can be at disequilibrium because consumers have to respond without prior knowledge. I believe Anvidr was asking now that people have tried it, is it worth (i.e. taste better) the 10 to 20 dollar mark up over regular BT.

To answer the question: Based on several tastings of BT reserve, it is one of my favorite BT variants. So for me it's worth a premium price. But I tend to like BT barrel treatments over adjuncts.

Whether or not its worth it for you, depends a lot of you.

I don't remember what it cost but the answer is yes. It is better than regular BT and I'm not just saying that because it was HS exclusive. To me it was worth the price of admission and buying as much as I could get my HS mitts on.

I understand why it cost more since it cost more to produce it. That being said I preferred regular BT and found the bourbon flavors too much for my palate.

Oh man... This is dangerous... I'm going to spend like $500 on crowlers next time I visit...

@BruerJoel just out of curiosity, what is the thinking on whether to make Reserve fills growler only vs crowler? Is it just for limiting the total amount going out the door?

What is everyone's opinion on the shelf life of a crowler? I was told that you don't really want to hold on to it for more than a week or so since it's lost some carbonation and been exposed to oxygen during the pour.

I know people keep crowlers for many months, and they held up fine. So as long as it's not an IPA...should be good.

Normal cellaring temp or do crowlers need refrigeration do you think? For ones that it would make sense to hold.

If they blast it with gas prior, blanking out on the name, crowlers can last months without issue.
