This is the first time they've ever mentioned using Lupulin Powder in AGE as far as I can tell but I am skeptical that OG AGE wasn't double dry hopped in the first place.

I've got a can of OG AGE from the Midweek release a bit back, I want to do a side by side but 32oz of 10.5% beer is a little much.

On the note of feeling like things were DDH'd long before that became a token word...anyone confused by the fact that this recent batch of "DDH" OH was $18/4pk, and the original NON DDH version was also $18/4pk according to insta? Maybe the original was DDH'd too? If I use that word one more time I might just lose my mind just a couple a times

I'm thinking the DDH version is the correct price and the Non DDH was a mistake in charging more......

the descriptions are a bit different.

My guess is same amount of hops, slightly different hop schedule? Maybe the second dry hop was just citra lupulin and they cut down on citra pellets? Who knows, but I am sure there are a lot of non-DDH branded beers that have always had 2 rounds of dry hopping. But now you can charge $1-2 more for a slick marketing term. It's fucking brilliant tbh.

As I believe Augie Carton said it on Steal This Beer:

    DDH = Double Dry Hyped

Yes, he (founder of Carton Brewing) has trashed the term's lack of meaning pretty heavily on multiple occasions. It's kinda become a running joke on the podcast for listeners to write in with specific questions about it's use, and he'll just go off on how it can literally mean anything and therefore means nothing. It's a blanket term meant to insinuate that the beer will be very hoppy. I find it holds some connotative value when it precedes the name of another beer (as OH, Trillium, Veil, etc.) in order to provide context (i.e., DDH ACE is the hoppier version of ACE), but don't even get me started on breweries that use it to describe new beers that have no non-DDH precedent.......

Did anyone else have weird consistency issues with their cans of Everything is Numbers? The first can I had was pretty hoppy but cans 2 and 3 were very muted and tasted like a super boozy Helles, basically no hop character and lots of grainy maltiness, almost. But I opened the last can tonight and it was hoppy like the first can, I almost poured it cause I couldn't finish the previous two cans.

Whoever compared this new iteration of AGE to green power was quite right. Not right out of the fridge but as it warms up those melon notes come thru on the finish. Having said that, it doesn't taste so far off from the original AGE flavor imo. Just a much fruitier version of it. I love it.

Yeah, I came here to say it was like a less one note Green Power. Also I am questioning the listed ABV since I have had 4 AGE this evening and am not wasted. Feels more like an 8.5% to me.

Apparently chicken nuggets sauce geeks are crazy too. Would have been interesting to see the two lines come together on Centre Street on a Saturday morning as beer geeks and sauce geeks wondered what the hell each other were doing lining up. Can easily replace "beer" with "sauce" and "McDonalds" with "local favorite brewery" and not skip a beat. I swear I didn't take this article from The Onion!

McDonald’s Szechuan sauce shortage disappoints Long Island fans

Long Island customers were left hungry, disappointed and feeling saucy on social media when a limited-edition rerelease of a 1990s McDonald’s chicken nugget dipping sauce never made it to fans Saturday.

Across the country and at three Long Island locations, customers ventured to the fast-food chain for a taste of Szechuan teriyaki dipping sauce during a one-day-only promotion. Instead, they found long lines, overwhelmed staff and a severe shortage of the condiment.

In statements, McDonald’s said it underestimated the demand for the sauce, which was originally released as part of a 1998 promotional campaign for the Disney movie “Mulan.”

“Our super-limited batch, though well-intentioned, clearly wasn’t enough to meet that demand,” the company said in a statement posted to Twitter on Sunday. “We want to make this right.”

The sauce has not been available for more than 15 years, but captured customer attention again after the titular Rick from the Adult Swim show “Rick and Morty” raved about it in an April 2017 episode. Show fans bombarded McDonald’s with requests to resurrect the sauce and even started a petition that received nearly 45,000 signatures.

A company spokeswoman said the sauce — along with chicken tenders and a series of limited-edition sauce posters — was supposed to be available at three Long Island locations: Uniondale, Hempstead and Stony Brook.

Matthew Robertson, a Stony Brook University student, took an Uber to the Stony Brook location Saturday, only to find a packed parking lot and sad fans in “Rick and Morty” T-shirts, holding signs that read “no sauce” to warn those arriving.

“I thought it was funny at first. A lot of people showed up,” Robertson, 18, said. “But then I saw the signs.”

Staff were overwhelmed, and Robertson said he decided to order a regular meal and leave.

On social media, fans nationwide shared disappointment and frustration after leaving McDonald’s empty-handed.

In California, social media users posted video of crowds harassing McDonald’s employees in at least two locations and yelling “Szechuan sauce.” A search on eBay brings up hundreds of listings for sauce packets, being sold for anywhere from $50 to $600.

“Go to hell McDonalds,” wrote a Farmingville Facebook user and “Ricky and Morty” fan, who said she arrived at a McDonald’s at 10:30 a.m., hours before the promotion was scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

Mario Contreras, 29, of Freeport, took Saturday off from his job driving for Lyft to go to the Uniondale location.

After waiting in line for about 20 minutes, the “Rick and Morty” fan said a store manager came out and told the crowd of nearly 100 people that the store had not received the sauce and only nine posters. Contreras joined a mad dash of customers who headed to the Stony Brook location, but was disappointed there, too, he said.

“It reminded me of the feeling when you ask for a specific Christmas present and you open it up to find a sweater,” Contreras said. “It was just complete disappointment.”

McDonald’s said in statements it plans to bring the sauce back for another promotion this winter. Contreras said he is remaining skeptical, but making preparations for a second chance at Szechuan sauce.

“Just in case, whatever time they say it’s going to be available, I’m going to show up at least an hour early,” Contreras said.
