I've not had nearly as many brews as many people on this website, so maybe my view is less appealing to some, but...This doesn't surprise me. With such an adjunct-laden stout, I wouldn't expect it to change dramatically with all the different types of barrels (especially if the heat is said to normally be higher than what it was during the 2017 batch). Seems like those BA differences wouldn't be anywhere near as noticeable as if it was a much more "clean" base that was then tossed into the various barrels.

Course, I have come to find that I am not nearly the fan of adjunct-laden stouts that others are. I seem to prefer nice clean BA stouts straight up.

Yep. It's fine if you wanna go down to WB and drop one bottle on a special occasion (birthday, anniversary, whatever), but I don't know that I would try 12 different ones in a lineup. That palate is probably wrecked after the first few.

I've had about 3000 unique brews, but I've learned that stouts aren't my thing. Sure, I like them and can appreciate them, but I'm not reaching for a $100 bottle anytime soon.

Anyone know if they put the coconaughty on the on-site list yet?

I was there on sept 30th and that is not the list I saw. Apple Brandy was gone and I'm almost 100% sure DB Cake from 2014 was $150. Yes they do have coconaughty, and it's $75.

Edit: not saying that list wasn't taken yesterday, just when I was there it looked like they had an updated list to remove the last apple brandy that was rumored to be purchased before I was there.

Could be right. My neighbor was there yesterday and sent me that pic. HE could've just been handed an old list?

This couldn't have been taken yesterday. This is an old list. AB is gone and a couple of the other ones are more expensive now.

It was. He picked up some Mosaic Rinse and Repeat for us. He may have been given an old list? I don't doubt they have upped their prices...

How do they normally announce the Brown Paper Tickets release for BA Cake? 5000 unique beers later and still need to try almost all of those Cake versions.

And I was just digging around the website too, didn't seem to be working well so I just closed out before I got to the FAQs. Thank you though!

I can't believe this is the first time this has come up this year. I wonder if they will go on sale again at midnight on the night they go on sale? :grinning:

I wonder if they will follow through with that on the BA cakes? From what I remember last year they didn't give days notice it was kinda just.....there. But I could be mistaken.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did a silent release this year, sell half of whats produced to go over a 2 week period, then mark the rest up bigly for on site consumption.

@abb610 if they do, I sure hope they remove that information from the FAQ overnight and then do it. People have come to expect this method of sales.

They should make it a ticket event with proxy allowed so that every person nationwide with a desk job can get max tickets and resell the bottles to cover the costs of the ty beers for the proxy. Screw the locals who support, they can buy a bottle for $200 on premise anyways!

If Westbrook wasn't ditributed to many states outside of SC you would have a point. As it stands, I would guess Westbrook sells more beer outside of the state of SC than in it.

WB definitely makes the money on volume and something tells me that the owner really doesn't care- which is bad and great at the same time. At the very least it creates some epic whining reading material on the www

Most non-charleston residents haul up the BA cakes anyways, so not much would change with a ticketed event apart that it would become even more difficult for the, about, 30 local beernerds- of which plenty will miss the silent release because they don't have a desk job, or other obvious reasons. With a ticketed raffle event, now nation wide audience will try and enter with 100 family member names, just like what happened to antead.. no?

I won the ANTEAD lottery this year. I was worried that if I mentioned that I was from the Carolinas, I would get pegged with batteries. Go Panthers!!!

I wonder when they changed the FAQ for BA Cake. The last couple years have been unannounced ticketed releases where you had less than 30 minutes before every knows and bought up the tickets. I can't really see them changing that method.
