I'd agree with what many have said above, Fiddy right out of the gate and Expedition aged. I'll give the nod to Expedition due to price and probably having more complexity.

Both are excellent, but I prefer Expedition myself. That beer holds up like a champ!

I have had expedition from fresh to seventeen years old and it is always spectacular. I love me some Tenfidy but it has not proven itself like expedition has just yet.

I really enjoy Ten Fidy a lot, but I completely agree with this (haven't had one quite as old as 17 years old, but the sentiment remains). Would be curious to see how long a Ten Fidy can (no pun intended..) age.

And yeah, I find Expedition to be wildly more complex, especially fresh. Wife took a few sip of one I was drinking last winter, and proclaimed "This is an expedition of flavor".

Just to clarify, we are talking about Bell's Expedition Stout? If yes, this is one of my all-time favourite beers (#3, actually) and I'm shocked the poll is so even. Ten Fidy is a great stout, but Expedition is phenomenal beer.

That said, I've aged bottles of Expedition Stout from six to sixteen months, and I'd just as soon drink it fresh.

I am very excited to try aged Expedition in the future, bought an extra 6er when it came to town over January, and it's been in the back of the "cellar" ever since. I know one bottle shop that occasionally puts out cellared vintages (got 07 and 08 Storm Kings, '10 Third Coast Old Ale, something else I can't remember..) from time to time, so I really, really hope they put out some aged Expedition out soon.

Its hard for me because I love them both so much. Ten Fidy is available year round and Expedition is super hard to get (at least in AZ). I voted Expedition simply for the fact that I can age it and it gets even better. It may be possible to age Ten Fidy, but I don't feel comfortable storing beer in a can for 4 or 5 years.

Ten Fidy is one of my favorite stouts though.

Total Wine in Tucson had Expedition last year but it only lasted about a day or two. I found it a few places in 2010. That's actually how I have one in my 'cellar' right now.

I'm so happy OB is coming to Ohio I will promise to drink both and further my opinion. At this point expedition wins though.

    Edit: Both age excellently though

Expedition, hands down. I havent had ten fidy in a while though, until recently when I got some almost a year old, and they were crap. Tasted like alcoholic chocolate milk. I mean they were good, but severely lacking that delicious roastiness, my favorite aspect of stouts.

I don't care much for fresh Ten Fidy, but I aged a few cans about a year and it was incredible. I wish it wasn't so insanely expensive or I'd buy some more just to cellar.

If we're talking fresh, then I prefer Ten Fidy (and it's not even close).

If we're talking aged, then it's not so simple. I've never aged Ten Fidy and very few (if any) stouts age as well as Expedition Stout.

Maybe some aged Expedition will win, but in the last year Ten FIDY blows it away. Expedition was just too sweet and unbalanced for me.
