Yes - I believe it landed in a handful of locations today in Ann Arbor.

Hopefully it'll last a little while like it has in years past. Backwoods is truly one of Founders most underrated beers.

Arrived in Jackson today. Was limited to two which is strange cause the last two years the store had so much stock they were begging you to buy it come January.

Do stores normally only get 1 drop? If not, perhaps the first drop is just light, and they're being conscientious?

This store usually gets multiple drops and is conservative at first but have always done four packs in the past to start. maybe founders has cut back some this year but I doubt it as they were only limiting you to ten cases per person at the brewery which tells me they made a lot.

I can't believe people buy so much that they even need to set a limit. I can't even imagine that much backwoods bastard. About the only thing I'd consider buying that much of (if I had a sufficiently large income and storage space) would be something that ages well indefinitely and that I liked enough that I'd pull them out at any and every point across a 5-10 year span (BCBS is the only one that comes to mind.)

    Colour me shocked.

Curious if anyone went out for the Tank Bender release and what your thoughts are on it.

I'm all in favor of the style, but I'm a bit blown away by what people are trying to trade it for (only seen people offering crazy amounts if they are FT, not ISO). Just seems hard to believe Founders would do that well with a style they don't really play with much (to the best of my knowledge?).

What store in Jackson? How much was it?

I made the stop by Founder's on my way home from the Speciation release, parking was a mess. Grabbed two bottles for myself and one for a buddy. Cracked one as soon as it was cellar temp after I got home. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it as Eisbock is usually a style I don't reach for often. Really nice caramel malt flavors, slight fruity scent (dark fruits) and a nice light charred Bourbon Barrel finish. It's definitely worth grabbing if you're a fan of the style or a fan of bourbon barrel Barleywines. Wouldn't give up the farm for it by any means as it's still available at the brewery, but it's certainly worth a tick. Just my 2¢, cheers!

    Super helpful.

Kind of crazy to think it is still there and some of FT threads are asking for DB la nada and the like.

I picked up my 3 bottles on Saturday and had a pour at the Anni party. I though it was very good. Full of carame/toffee, rich and hearty, good notes of barrel and wood, not a ton of alcohol heat given the high abv. How many other barrel aged eisbock are out there? I can only think of Kuhnhenn’s offerings at their 15th anni party. That said, I don’t think Founder’s BBA Eisbock is as limited as people are saying it is. Sure, it was brewery only release but they made it sound like it would sell out in 13 hours and it was still selling a good 2 days after that.

IMO it probably would have sold out day of, but the weather was just brutal so don’t think the party had the expected attendance. I’m in that boat, would have gone to the party but just swung in for bottles because I live close. For those that live a further distance, probably kept them away altogether.

If I had much to trade right now, I'd probably be jacking your inbox right now.

BTW, your trade request was actually one that I thought was very in line, not like the DB La Nada . Just was not going to call you out unless you posted.

Does anyone know if Tank Bender is gone? I see that it sat around a bit longer than anticipated but I'm curious before I trek over.
    TIA.

Unrelated to Tank Bender, Backwoods Bastard made it's way to Southern Indiana sometime since Monday. Indy as well sometime sincerely then.

Tank Bender’s still available at the store. It’s behind the counter and you have to ask for it. 6 bottle limit, so I’m assuming there’s a good amount left, which doesn’t surprise me.

I shared a bottle with some buddies last night. You drilled it with your notes above. All three of us thought it was an exceptional beer worthy of representing Founders 20th anniversary. One of my buddies wants me to pick up some more bottles for him as I now work in Grand Rapids. I think I'm going to pick up an extra bottle as well.
