Aye. Being on the other side of the pond, my KBS was a couple months old when I sipped on it, delicious stuff.

I dunno about fresh FBS as I am a bit too far from Michigan, but even aged a bit taste great.

It's better probably from October-early December. Anything after that and I usually don't get it.

Besides Backwoods Bastard comes out around November, and apparently CBS is getting a nationwide release in December....

I agree on this one, I have some year old stuff and some that was just made. I prefer the new batch because the flavors are fuller.
    Cheers

I loved this beer. But when Founders came out with Sumatra Mt. it was like Whoa. This is what I'm looking for. I know they are different beers, and I still love FBS. And to add another opinion. Stone Xocoveza this year has knocked it out of the park. Again. I know they are all different, and they are all fantastic. Cheers on this rainy Iowa day.

I agree on what you said, all of them rock this year. Have you tried the Anchor Coffee Porter, holy cow. If you love coffee forward beers pick this up, I had some last night and it was amazingly good.
    Cheers

I just saw the post on WBAYDN. Sadly, we don't get Anchor here very often. Ironic since Maytag (the washer/dryer plant) was here until about 10 years ago. And Fritz, well, He's an icon. We still have Maytag Bleu cheese, though. World class. If you like Bleu cheese. Which I don't. I'm sure that beer is great!

I would push my grandmother over to get FBS for only $12 bucks.

The last two years I have felt fbs was a little on the thin side compared to previous years. This years batch is back to that thick mouth feel I remember. Excellent beer.

    if you like coffee!

I agree with above (drink fresh), but damn if it isn't still tasty a couple years later.

I would push your grandmother over too, for $12 FBS. Ha! That's on old Tony Stewart take on grandmothers. I would never, ever hurt yours or anybody's grandmother. Now grandfathers, that could get dicey.

My local bottle shop manager told me their cost went down so if you're paying $12 this year go elsewhere. I paid $9.75

I disagree with everyone here because fresh FBS is more bitter than I prefer. It's not the amount of coffee flavor per see, as I love certain other coffee-forward beers fresh. It''s the perceived bitterness from the combination of the the kinds/roast of the beans and malt, as well as the 60 IBU. My favorite FBS bottle was the one I aged the longest( somewhere around 8-10 months IIRC), and I didn't notice pepper notes.

$9.99 a 4 pack here in MT. First year having it. Very very good. Founders has eaten up a lot of my budget since landing here.

    Great $. Last year I walked past at $78 a case. I did get 4 in a mix a 6 though.

First time I ever had FBS it was run through oats and coffee beans. Holy shit it was good.

    Enjoy

I like it fresh or within one year. I aged a bottle to three years and it was a completely different beer. I just did a comparison between a year old, two year old, and a fresh bottle and I'd take the fresh bottle over the other two.

You Americans dont know how lucky you are. I cant help but laugh when you say $12 for a 4 pack is expensive. Its $22 for a single bottle of KBS here in Australia. Even local craft beers are at absolute minimum $8 a bottle.

Is it back to four packs? I thought they switched it to sixes last year?
