Sadly it was a one-time-only thing.

I feel the same about Lowenbrau. Probably because it's the only one of the Munich "big six" breweries that doesn't export to the United States.

Not equal. (And that's not a knock against Coors Light)

Yes, I am well aware of your dislike of that beer, but I like it on its own merits regardless of its truth to style.

And please, it's far from the worst Berliner Weisse made - there are plenty of examples in the US vying for that title. :stuck_out_tongue:

It wouldn't surprise me to see a coffee Berliner Weiss, or one with cocoa nibs. BBA, too, natch!

That is sad. Must have been fun while it lasted though!

An impossibly tough question, but as patto1ro noted in a great post on his website, it's hard to beat an Augustiner helles vom holzfass.

I recently discovered Andechs Dopplebock a few months ago and it blew me away. Celebrator and Schlenkerla Marzen come in second and third. Hackar-Pschoor Oktoberfest is up there too.

There are many others but these really stick out

Yeah, that's a good one too!

Founders released its 20th anniversary beer today, a BBA Eisbock called Tank Bender. I'm looking forward to trying it. I don't think I've ever had a BBA version of an Eisbock before. It's a bit pricey, at $20.

It was a Gose rather than a Berliner Weisse, but I can imagine you would have not been very impressed with what I can only call the New England Style Gose I had in Pittsburgh last month!

It was actually quite tasty for what it was (and what it was was not a Gose).
