I got all the way home and realized they gave me two 4 packs of the Blackberry Raspberry Only Void and didnt give me any of the Coffee only. I didnt even think to look and honestly the labels are pretty similar. Oh well should be easy enough to line up a trade.

Did they say how the line is?

Really like the updated only void labels. The black with the colored foil is really nice

There is a whole pallet of Milkshake left but the berry OV is about to sell out. Coffee is gone.

Rolled in today right around 7. No chairs before 8 wasnt even enforced until 20 minutes before 8. Line was the usual.. good people discussing beer, swapping cans, and telling stories. The checkout seemed flawless and the line moved well. Now.. the beers.. BR OV and SO OV were both tasty but a tad thin. The Pumpkin Shake was just fucking sad.. the heavy allspice finish was pretty brutal and it even had hints of that astringent burn. I plan to age a few and see how they develop but I won't keep my hopes up. Cheers all.

I thought the pumpkin was pretty great actually. Exactly as advertised. The voids really shined as they warmed.

As usual, no reason to line up early (for Milkshakes at least). As of 4:30pn they still had plenty.

Cracked one at home, I have to say it’s the only double milkshake yet that I actually really enjoy. Pumpkin and spices temper the sweetness. Out of the can it’s great.

I decided to forego cans entirely but still love Only Void so just stopped by for lunch. Had the chance to try all three along with some tacos. The carne asada and fruited OV were the highlights. It was crazy busy and service was definitely overwhelmed. The Shake was good if a little too spicy, not one of my favorites but I love that they tried it.

So what time did you have to arrive to get the full allotment this year?

We pulled up at 10:30. Chairs/line was on Athens at St Paul abouts. Dropped chairs and went for breakfast. Came back around 11:15 and we figured we were about 300-350 or so in line. Line didn’t compress until about 12:15 or so. We got to purchase right at 2 o’clock with all still in stock. I thought the line moved not too badly and time went by quickly. Honestly? Most people near me were there for the OVs not the shake. I’m guessing the OV Coffee sold out about 3?

If you were a shake fan, then there was no need to stand in the line we were in based on allotments. Come at 3:00 and get your beer with minimal line at that point. I even heard rumor that at 4:00 they started allowing 2 four packs of the shake.

All that being said, for me via draft the shake was just OK, and I am shake fan. I got minimal pumpkin and spices. The fruit OV was orgasmic but didn’t get to try the single coffee as it was sold out. I heard from poeple that was awesome too. So in summation, I think the OV won the day and the shake was really second fiddle. That was the vibe I got anyway.

I'm just curious because this has apparently become a staple excuse for lining up for beer but what stories did you all have to tell? How insane it was to line up 4 hours before a beer release? This whole movement to attempt to justify lining up for beer because "you get to hang out with people" is fucking absurd. You know you can hang out not at 10am on any basis.

I got there 4 hours early to drop at chair to hold my spot.. I then walked with my buddy to a killer brunch spot (Sabrinas) and caught up with him about work, life, and a little beer talk. We then walked back to our chairs, made a few trades with other like minded people (scoring HF, Tilted Barn, and a tough to get Kane release). One topic that came up a lot with people out there, other than how crazy it is to be lining up for beer, was the entitlement felt by those that weren't there that will try to trade for the beers we lined up to buy today. All in all was it a pain in the butt to be lining up for beer? Maybe. Do most people in line have an upbeat attitude and are they generally excited to be there? yep.

I don’t understand the entitlement of people trading for beers you lined up for. Didn’t you trade for beers that someone lined up for and you couldn’t get?

Agreed. As much as I dislike standing in line, I’ve met some good people doing so. And I stand in line for me, no one else. I drink my beer I stand in line for.

I mean, I couldn't find the time to head down for OV day today, but I did last year. Is it really so hard for people to understand that it's not that difficult to work a few hours in line into one's weekend plans? There wasn't even an Eagles game to miss.

I decided to hop in my car from the Lehigh Valley at about 10:30 this morning and got there at 11:30. I have a wife and three kids and since I don't ever do it I got the hall pass and I took it! Anyways, people were reporting the line was at 800 deep but it was probably more like 650 at that point. I got to the front around 2:45 and got the full allotments. Coffee probably sold out 15-20 minutes after that. Everyone I was around was respectful and it wasn't a bad day to be outside. I do wish they had more than 2 points of sale or at least sent the merch to the General Store to make things go a little quicker. When I got out of line and was heading back to my car the line was only at the Ferm parking lot. Pumpkin shake is definitely a little hot like a lot of shakes but as it warmed it got a lot better and I'm assuming the same will happen with age. I don't have enough time and don't want to put in the effort to trade so I'll enjoy these beers with friends throughout the Holidays. Cheers all!

Name those beers... Most are available to walk in and buy right from behind the bar at the Brewery. HoofHearted? Check. Aslin? Check. Trillium? Check. These are just a few examples. I’ve been to Charlton on a big release day (double shot) and today was absolutely on that level. There are a few places out there that you have to line up for, but very very few that you have to line up for like Tired Hands today. The estimate was 800 people in line at noon. You asked for examples of what some of us did today while waiting, and I did my best to explain. As I said it wasn’t that bad of a morning. Forgot to mention we also streamed the English Premeire League for a bit.

I am not a beer trader and can’t stand the people that get 5 allotments of hard to get beer and complain about not being able to get more to sell/trade. Just seemed like a weird statement right after you said you were trading beers. I am not looking down on anyone standing in line today for beers, have done it many times myself.

I agree with you 100%. I am the guy at all of these releases that typically buys one or two 4 packs, if there is left overs Ill trade them to buddies in other states. The allotment today basically solved that problem a head of time. Nevertheless I still received messages (a few from this site) with people I had traded with in the past looking for "1 of each"... My point was that I don't think those people understand the time and effort put in to be able to buy 12 total beers this morning. I am sorry if I came across entitled or dickish in my previous post(s)...

On an off note - do soccer and craft beer go hand in hand? There were people talking about the EPL games during the 1:00 games. I forgot what country I was in for a minute!
