A friend of mine bought Coffee & Cakes awhile ago, and I asked him how it was.

He said he got through about 4 oz before feeling a diabetes outbreak. Drainpoured the rest.

Une Anee/HC are fantastic at IPA and sours, but Ive never enjoyed a stout of theirs.

Fair enough, but I love that breweries do fun things like that to go along with their events. I think they make good beer and Brian, their brewer, is a trading buddy from many years ago (back well before he ever had a brewery) and I like supporting good guys like him. Cheers!

I haven't tried El Zacaton, but when i
I felt that way until I had El Zacaton and Coco Van. I'm surprised at the response here, I think they're great

If you strike out let me know and I'll bring a bottle downtown with me for you. You are conveniently located.

I have never seen this event before. With the breweries listed, looks like it's worth a dice roll for a mere $30 bucks.

Similar to what @JFresh21 said, I’ve never seen it before. I’m pretty sure this is their first time doing it. With the breweries listed, it was an easy buy for me. If anyone else ends up going, hit me up.

So it's the first year of the Classic?

I recognize your point. That said, classic here is a noun used in a different sense than just "recognizable/renowned event over time." So, not quite the bastardization.

So we're all just going to ignore the fact this person just drain poured nearly 30 bottles worth of beer?:astonished::grin:

    ...But really, 2ml pours?

I drainpour beer I don't like regardless of price.

Life's too short to drink shitty beer!!

    Very true.

I must say that I am just more likely to "suffer" through a beer I do not like if I was given it vs. if I just bough it (regardless of price). That said, I have yet to open some of the really expensive beers that could make me cry a little if I drainpoured. I am fairly risk averse, though, so I try to avoid anything expensive (relative term) if I have much of a belief that I will dislike it.

Thank you for clearing up what sediment I was seeing. I felt like I had to filter it....tons of junk. It was cloyingly sweet though.

Has anyone seen High Westified popping up this week? 2015 bombers or 2017 bottles? No luck on my end.

Yep - 12oz bottles from August '17 were all over last week. Some 2015 bombers are around this week, but I would think the coffee would be mostly gone - didn't last past 6 months in 2015 I recall, let alone 30 months.

The coffee fell off hard from the Dec '16 batch that I drank from 4m to 10mo.

I have yet to get the green-pepper taste from aged coffee stouts, but I've been hesitant to take on anything too old with coffee as a result. Very risk averse this one.

This year's Crack The Skye is still just as awesome as I remember. I was worried after hearing people aren't liking it as much - but I'm getting just as much chocolate and BA coffee as I got last year. Here's to hoping that everybody else feels the same way I do!
