They asked for my home address so they can mail me a “Borning Pool Prize”. No specifics though...

Could be wrong but I think guessing the right date just got you an entry into a raffle.

i got some email from Lagunitas for Born Yesterday but I looked at it very briefly and didn't notice anything about guessing the correct date

I think I did guess but don't recall it that well

I'll have to check that email again...what day was it sent? I think I got it a couple of days ago

just figured it was an email promo to make customers aware it is being released again

It was sent yesterday. Apparently everyone that guessed 10/16 was entered into a pool and then winners were selected from that pool.

I love NEIPA’s but I agree... just adding haziness to a beer won’t add the attributes that most of us want from hazy beers and the beer was great as it was last year. No need to mess with success!

Had the bottle last night and it was clear, had it on tap today at City Beer Store and it was very hazy although it pretty much tasted the same. Maybe it had a little more of a creamy mouth feel from the tap.

Had one on tap last night at hop grenade and it was clear with a touch of haze. Delicious. Bought a case from TW and from bottle it seemed a bit more clear maybe, but Still delicious. This is the only lagunitas I will be buying anymore post sell out but I'm still very happy with it.

lol I just got burned by Gateway Liquors in Westville, NJ. Their BeerMenus page said they have Born Yesterday 2017 in 12 packs. Called up and asked just to make sure (they confirmed they did) and I made the stupid mistake of not clarifying if they meant Born Yesterday or Born Again Yesterday. It was the latter. I drove out of my way for no reason.

Lesson of the story, don't always trust beermenus. Even if you knew this like I did, make sure the guy on the other side of the phoneline knows what you're talking about

Absolutely. I took the extra step of calling but forgot about the nomenclature confusion of Born Yesterday vs Born Again Yesterday. Oh well.

Similar too last year's batch but less punchy. Still deliciously fresh.

The fact they said 12 packs should of made you suspicious. Born Again Yesterday was in 12 packs, Born Yesterday is in 6 packs.

Right, I should've seen that. In the glory of reading this thread and checking the site I thought it was pretty suspicious. Then I figured "Hey, Lagunitas has an increased capacity, maybe they pulled it off?". Stupid me I suppose, but in today's beer market I thought it wasn't such a far fetched idea. (I mean, I still can't get over the fact that Deschutes Fresh Squeezed went year-round)

Hopefully somebody who purchased a Chicago brewed version will post their thoughts on the 2017 version of this beer.

    Cheers!

Edit: I found this review from @hanuswalrus:

"6-pack purchased at Binnys Lincoln Park in Chicago today. Bottled yesterday (10/16/17) so quite literally, this beer was Born Yesterday. Open the bottle and the aroma pops right out. Pours a hazy yellow-orange, head is consisted of larger bubbles than I'm used to for Lagunitas. The head fades somewhat quickly, probably due to the irresponsible amount of hop oils in this beer. Not complaining here. Primary aroma is HUGE orange, with some tropical (mostly mango and some pineapple) and dank as well. Flavor is not quite as huge as the aroma, but still very nice. Lots of citrus, orange and grapefruit pith bitterness. It's "juicy", but also has nice bitterness to tell you it's beer. I really like it, especially for an $11 6-pack. I'll probably go get another 6-pack if it's still there tomorrow."

Last year's batch was the best so far, but I was disappointed how long it took to get to shelves here on the east coast. I remember 2015's version literally arriving the day after bottling, which is an amazing feat.

Still so sign of it here yet...
