I'm a Jack's Abbey fanboy and I have to say this batch of Kiwi Rising is not very good IMHO.
Drank 1 over the weekend kind of in a rush and thought meh. Had a leisurely one last night and dumped half of it out.
It seemed line it was "old" like it had fallen off already. It was just canned end of September so it isn't like it was 4 months old or anything.

Damn. You guys are all making me question my senses! I had another last night and thought it was fine. I was really trying to pick up on the vegetal notes too and still didn't get any. Let it warm a bit and had it in a TeKu as well.

Maybe I'm just easily pleased. Oh well.

I bought a single can and had it the other night. I enjoyed it. I don't have a sophisticated enough sensory memory to compare it to prior years, but I didn't pick up any off flavors.

I think the vegetal/onion thing seems to be especially variable from person to person. It feels like just about every IPA ever has been described as oniony by someone or other at some point.

I thought it tasted fine too. I wasn't blown away when I had it last year nor was I this year. I can see the vegetal/green onion notes but I may be in the minority and enjoy those.

Think I've had 2 or 3 IPAs from springdale and Clerical Error was the real standout. Think I have it Clerical Error > But I Digress >> Good N You.

Post Shift is one of the best American-made pilsners I've ever had. It's so refreshing, it's so easy to drink, it's got so much flavor and nuance...not surprised it's made by Jack's Abby. I've already drank 6 of them since last Friday.

I've had a few cans of Kiwi Rising too, canned early October, and I personally thought they were fantastic. Nice citric start, great crisp finish. $2.50 a can for PS, $3.50 a can for KW...can't beat that either.

I got a 12-pack of 12oz Post Shift at the brewery for $16 I think. I bet they run about $14 at Total Wine, FYI, as I've seen that for the price of Hoponious Union and Calyptra there. Comes out to $1.33/12oz can. Jack's Abby is the best value per quality I've seen. Otter Creek comes close in that area, IMO, as well.

Really fantastic. That and House Lager are absolutely ideal deserted island beers.

TW has their prices for Post Shift a little messed up at the moment. $15 for 12x12oz, but only $8 for 6x16oz.

JA has been delivering on their Keller variations. This is outstanding Marzen Keller

Agreed on the marzen keller (and Franconian keller). Have had drafts of both recently and they're straight up tasty beers; great food beers. However, during the same visit my obligatory draft of Fire in the Ham (my fav JA beer) was noticeably less smokey than in the past. Hope it was just a temporary batch thing and the recipe hasn't changed.

I visited Jack's Abby beerhall for the first time this evening and what a fine setup it is. In the common seating there was a group of hipsterish young folk to my left and a family group ranging from toddlers to grandparents to my right, which is the sort of varied, balanced demographics I like to see in quasi-public spaces. The food was very good; I got the bratwurst with sauerkraut and spaetzel and my wife got the seared scallops with grits, and neither of us have the least regret beyond the ensuing food coma. After buying a bit over a case in JA and Springfield cans, at the last minute I dashed (i.e., waddled) back in to get a single growler of the uncanned but delightful Franconian Kelller, which I'm digging right now.

Jack's Abby is such a fine organization that I've begun to wonder how I ever got along without it.

Agreed. One of my favorite aspects of JA's spot , which I've said more times than I can count to my wife when we've been there, is that you see all walks of life in there. Last time I was there, a small bus of senior citizens filed in and and I loved to see that.

For sure. In our current cultural moment, it's especially gratifying to visit places where a multitude of separate tribes gather and get along just fine.

I picked up a 6er at CBC. Had a few last night during the games. The Jack's Abby seasonals are always a hit!
