I think it’s been one of everything the last couple years, but you can get two regular and then 2 12 oz or 1 22 oz vintage bottle.

I’m expecting it to still be the same, but who knows. What I think will be interesting is at the non-Binny’s places that allow you 1 or 2 variants...what will be first to go? Seems like some great options with Reserve, Prop, Coffee and Northwoods (to a lesser extent...perhaps). Last year it was really just Prop or Coffee.

Timing and reputation is key. Will the Josh Noel piece create big interest in Reserve? But then there’s Fobab and Prop Day buzz too. Last year, Prop was the most desired on Black Friday because a coffee shortage wasn’t really known. The following week at Whole Foods (the one I was at) saw people picking Coffee over Prop at a 5 to 1 rate until gone

Last year, they made a point of making sure ALL of the Binny's did one of each, full allotments until variants sold out. In years past, some Binny's pulled the regular+one variant of your choice thing.

Since Lincoln Park is the flagship for this event, I would be shocked if it weren't one of each.

Wasn't last year's FOBAB buzz that prop was one of the worst beers that people ever had?

Yes but then it rebounded some when Goose had Prop Day and served Prop to good reviews (I 100% believe it was cut with regular BCS there was minimal pepper heat even after warming). So we’lo probably hear lots of different feelings, especially about Northwoods.

As someone who hit up WF and 3 or 4 additional releases after Black Friday, I’ll say that Prop was the first to go everytime.

I’ll say last year’s Prop was the worst yet of the Props (but not one of the worst beers I’ve ever had). 2015 was obviously infected, but the few times I had it before infection, I liked it way better than 2016.

I love 2016 Prop. My favorite since the original. But I understand I'm in the minority.

    - How long would your ass be sore for? Would a bottle of BCS or one of its variants help with the pain?

    - Would said pain outlast your entire haul? Could you shorten the beating by sharing some of said beer?

    - How many months old does a child have to be before their palate can enjoy barrel-aged beer? Will the beer age/cellar well until then?

So after a lot of reading on the forums, it sounds like Binnys LP is the place to go for the best chance at getting all 6 variants. Perhaps if we get there around 5am should be guaranteed a ticket within the allotment?

It sounded like as late as 9am and you'd be ok for the LP release. 5am should be no problem. Are we allowed to drink in line?

I think I’ll be at the Montgomery Binny’s. Please let me know if there are other places I should swing by in that area, before or after, and if anyone wants to try to meet up in the parking lot for some coffee*.

I went to the Oak Brook binnys a few years ago
Right after it opened. They didn’t get a great allocation. You were allowed to pick prop or VR, not both, and 1 bottle of coffee (when it was 4-packs)

Line was short though, and I bet some cool people.

I also believe that beer was cut. That beer was delicious. I’ve not had prop 16 that tasted like that since.

However I’ve not had a prop 16 that was as bad as whatever the hell was served at fobab. That legitimately one of the worst beers at the event.

Quite sad. So Jewel and I've also heard walgreens can be good. Can anyone confirm that? Did either of them get variants last year? Any word on Mariano's?

Yikes, that sucks. I didn't realize the line was quite that bad.

I think Mariano’s gets theirs on a later day than Black Friday and without variants. Unless the city stores are different

Yeah, I recall Mariano's and Whole Paycheck releasing post Black Friday. I believe a handful of Walgreens in the city proper got some. One in particular, but I don't know that location off the top of my head. IIRC, all of these places did some sort of press release about what and where, some just days before. This thread does a good job of tracking it all.

I do recall that from this thread last year. Mostly because I was really close to going to LP, then decided late the night before to stick around my family's house. I was glad I did reading how big the line was and how many got shut out. Let the strategery begin...

I don't know if I'll be able to make it up this year like I was hoping. If I do, the horrific line and the time cap that I have ended up putting a stop to that plan (for me). Since I have never been able to successfully buy it before, I'm just excited to get regular BCBS, and hopefully a couple bottles (read, 2) of variants from a store or two. I love BCBS so much that this does not bother me in the slightest.
