That beer is not completely in my wheelhouse, but I found the color absolutely captivating, and while I didn't find it very tart, I really enjoyed the blueberry flavors.

    Cheers Sandy!

Bells Hell Hath No Fury, Bells calls this a Dubbel, but its close to a stout as well but with slight Belgian yeast in the background. What ever you call it, it is very complex and excellent brew, some chocolate, coffee and smokiness to it. Medium coating mouthfeel and a beer I would recommend. enjoy your new beer today! Cheers

Hello all contributors to NBS...I do not contribute often, but since I purchased this one a couple of weeks ago, I figured to not sit on it since I was weary of how the adjuncts would have held up at 6+ months...my hunch seems to have been confirmed:

Poured from a 16.9oz bottle (B.O.D 13 March 2017) into an 10oz Libbey snifter glass.

A - Pours nearly black with some mahogany highlights at the edges of the glass. The head was a minimal (expected due to the peanut adjunct)...pinky finger at best with very little retention. What did develop was a rocky and the color of a coffee-with-cream. (3.5)

S - Nothing outstanding. Roasted Peanuts, Chocolate and perhaps a faint whiff of Oak. Sadly, there was absolutely no hint of Raspberry...perhaps it was more prevalent within the first few weeks of bottling. If so, it has faded completely. No hint of the 10% ABV. (3.5)

T - Roasted Peanuts, Chocolate with a slight reminder of it spending time in Bourbon Barrels (char and Bourbon). Once letting it warm up to Room Temperature, there is what might be considered to be a ghost-like reminder of the raspberry, but that might just simple be power of suggestion. Like the nose, this is a bit one dimensional. (3.5)

M - Despite the 10% ABV, the body falls on the lighter side of Medium with conservative carbonation making it supremely drinkable. It finishes dry with a mild charred bitterness. Once at Room Temperature, there is a hint of alcohol warmth in the throat. (3.75)

O - Being a fan of BBA Framinghammer and its variants (specifically Coffee and Vanilla), this was a disappointment. The $10 price point for these BA beers from Jack's Abby are reasonable but with no raspberry in the aroma or flavor and lack of barrel influence, this is my least favorite of the series. However, this could very well have been much more impactful fresh...do not age! (3.25)

Not all can be winners...but after a loss by the Jets that they were clearly poised to win, it intensifies the disappointment.

Good evening NBS and thanks to @cjgiant for the start, today. This is the weekend we clean up under those maples we so enjoy. I swear each year to create a bricketter to make leaves into bricks for the wood stove, and then continue raking and mumbling under my breath.
Today's offering is from American Solera, Chase and his team have created a real delight in this wild ale with apricot, so complex, and Delicious.
    Cheers all

    Solera Skins Apricot

    American Solera
    Saison / Farmhouse Ale / 6.00% ABV

    4.36/5 rDev +4.8% | Score: 4.16
    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.25

Poured from a bottle dated 2016 into the large stem goblet
A - A still body of deep straw color, with coaxing a thin ring can be created from what appears to be no carbonation.
S - Tart fruit skins, honeysuckle, dusty basement, chalk, stone fruit, green grape skin.
T - Incredibly complex, starts with that layer of fruit we all know just as it gets bitter or tart. Mineral element adds to the complexity, similar to a premier Chablis. Stunning as it warms, releasing an orchards worth of ripe fruit, with a nice honey element.
M - Tart to start, then a sweeping thread of sweet grain runs through, a see-saw of tart and sweet continues. The body is medium, a bit viscous, the finish is dry and leaves a chalky dry feel. Exceptional.
O - What a treat, this is a challenging delight, tart, and complex, the fruit and conditioning are on full display. With so little carbonation this borders on a fine wine. The hints of calcium, and chalky feel add a great deal. The fruit (apricots) are well proportioned, and add so much. The craft on display here is simply awe inspiring.

NBS entry #3 is a beer that I actually found locally despite it being from Wyoming. I've had Melvin before and loved it. I was excited to see more Melvin at the Bevie along with this DIPA from the same brewers

L-The beer pours a clear golden with a towering 3 finger plus off white head. Lacing is very good a clings from the top of the glass on down.
S- There are notes of grapefruit pith and citrus and maybe a wiff of alcohol.
T-Citrusy up front on the palate. Pith and a bit of pine come in at the back of the palate. This is growing on me the longer I drink it. Alcohol is present mostly in the warming sensation I get after swallowing.
F-Carbonation is on the light side. Mouthfeel is slick and lighter than I would have suspected for a DIPA.
O-Another really great hoppy brew from the guys at Melvin. If I lived in that side of the country they would be, without a doubt, regulars for me.

Been struggling to find some new decent local stuff lately. This one hits the decent mark. Had a couple of these after I got home from the Norte Dame ass whuppin' of USC last night so technically it was a new Sunday beer, but I wanted to give it a fair, sober shake here.

12oz bottle slowly poured into shaker pint.

Pours a cloudy orange with a small tuft of foam. The nose has a large bouquet of floral esters and lemony citrus. Very Belgian common taste with the clove, but this has a dryness not typical of the style. Burnt citrus peel, sunflower, and a touch of cinnamon. Pretty nice.

Good afternoon NBS!!! Making my first post on here a little later than usual because I did some brewery hopping this afternoon. Started my day that PA’s newest brewery Aston Abbey, I was hoping to go to their grand opening yesterday, but ended up there today! I had tried their Tripel a last spring at Bellefonte and was impressed with it. Now they are official open and time to review some beer; I had to added the brewery so I was unable to add an official review but I have notes from the bar.
First beer from them was a collab with 2SP who is about a mile away from them. 2SP had some extra wort from their last brew of The Russian and Aston Abbey took the wort and fermented is with Belgian yeast.
    The Russian Monk
2SP collaboration, 2SP’s The Russian Work brewed with old world hops and fermented on Belgian year

Black, almost no head. Nose is chocolate, caramel malts, roasted malts, some dark stone fruits. Taste follows the nose with more of a Belgian yeast flavor, chocolate, roasted malts, caramel malts, slightly piney finish, dark stone fruits, slightly Quad like. Smooth, medium to full body. Love the yeast on this, awesome stout.

    4/4.25/4.5/4.25/4.25
Definitely a very fun twist to an award winning beer
    [IMG]
Second beer from them was Bombs Quad, a very nice Quad definitely from an American brewery.
    Bombs Quad

A dark brown with a small off white head. Nose is caramel malts, some cloves, dark fruits, cherries, plums, a little earthy. Taste is earthy, dark fruit, plums, some sweet malts, touch of cloves. Smooth, medium to full body, good carbonation. A tasty and balanced Quad

    4.25/4.25/4/4.25/4.25
    [IMG]
Since 2SP is a mile down the road I had to stop there on the way home. My first beer there was actually a guest tap, Forest & Main Future Truths, 3% Saison. It was pretty taste, light malts, some funk, earthy, very mild tartness. Would rate it a little below a 4.
Then had some Bady Bob on cask, it was a nice slightly chocolately stout with some roasted malts and a very nice creamy body, would rate some where between a 4 and 4.25.

Home now and enjoying a can of Bearded Iris DDH Ever Clever, thanks @Grizzarky!

16 oz can, dated 9/11/17, poured into a teku

A- A hazy golden orange with a two finger white head.

S- Dank, citrus, some sweet topical fruits, sweet malts, piney, some wet grass.

T- Sweet malts, some pineapple, citrus, resin, piney, touch of melons, hints of wet grass.

M- Smooth, slightly creamy, medium body.

O- A decent DIPA but falls short of a lot of the other Bearded Iris beers I’ve tied. I would say this is more on the malty side for a DIPA.

Nah, not yet. Gonna wait 'til I can try it together with the missus. She's got a much better palate for anything sour, which helps my reviews be something more than "yeah, kinda tart. A little sour. Something else, but not sure what."

    Hey All.
I'm popping in a bit earlier than usual. Thanks to @FlintB I earned a few points with the wife.

    Great Lakes Oktoberfest

Pours golden, clear, and capped by a fluffy white head. Slight lacing.
Smell is caramelly, with hints of nuts, and a biscuity undertone.
Flavor is much of the same. Slightly sweet with a nutty caramel note. Something bright and slightly herbal in the hops that finish this one off mildly grassy.
Slightly on the fuller side for style. I like that. Also, this one finishes a little slick.
    Overall, a good Marzen.

Greeting from middle TN! I'm enjoying a few great fall beers courtesy of @thebeers on a warm but blustery day. At least the leaves are finally changing. This one is a nice Festbier from PA. Prost!!

This was mildly hazy with a full amber color with a rich light-tan head. Hearty aromas of brown bread, some floral hoppy notes, yeast, and also caramel. A deep bready, malty flavor. The hops were there but restrained with faint earthy and floral notes. It tasted slightly sweet with a bit of caramel and toffee especially on the finish. Dry and crisp with a medium body. Very enjoyable; it felt like a meal in a glass, which is absolutely OK with me, considering my wife is at a dinner function. Cheers!
