Minor update, but based on recent feedback it's a major one for some.
    • Many of our users have the highly inflated A-F grading system in their heads, so the old score system (30-100) was easy for them to map over to a letter grade; even though it wasn't designed to be and inaccurate to do so as result.
    • By removing the 30-100 display layer and the associated range text (world-class, outstanding, very good, good, okay, poor, and awful), this left those not accustomed to a 1-5 scale lost.
    • We realized that most of the feedback wasn't solely because we got rid of the 30-100 scale, but rather that we got rid of the text, which many (far more than we realized) used as a quick reference to help make sense of the score.
In a nutshell: We brought the scale (or overall opinion) text back, and slightly adjusted it for 1-5.

I noticed the wording was brought back, I like that. But all of the changes every 2 weeks, man, making my head spin. :astonished:

I think its now OK and has been for a few weeks. The minor tweaks are no big deal. From the histogram you can tell how good the beer is. If you need a 1 to 100 scale instead of a 1 to 5 scale, divide the score by 5 and multiply by 100.

From the histogram you can also "eyeball" the level of agreement among raters.

I rather like the fact that they listened to the feedback and adjusted (even though I have no horse in this race as it is fine either way in my opinion).

As I mentioned in another thread, that simple math doesn't even come close to mapping over to the old score.

I agree it is simple and misses the complexities of the old score but for those fixated on a 1 to 100 score, it gives them a simple 1 to 100 score. My actual point was that what you have put together works fine.

Since I don't look at scores, it really makes no difference to me, but, I think "Good" should 3.0-3.49. If we consider the average beer these days to be "Good", that descriptor should be more towards the middle of the range. It's a tiny nit to pick though.
