Yeah, I preferred Benthic (and was salty as hell that I didn't get a bottle) since I'm a sucker for stuff like vanilla in a stout, but I have to be honest, Orin really blew me a way, all things considered. I'm not usually a big "barrel-aged ale" fan, but holy hell is that a delicious beer.

I will let people have Orin and try it on draft. My last experience with it was not good, but I was told there must have been something wrong with the keg because no one else I know described it as looking and smelling like diarrhea.

Yeah, wake me up when Benthic hits, and find me a dozen mules when it does....

Was the serving vessel by any chance a white ceramic bowl? If so, I've got some bad news for you.....

It tasted kind of like apple to me (which, afaik doesn't taste like diarrhea, but I have little firsthand knowledge there), although I could definitely see the visual description being accurate.

I'm there for Orin this week, tasted just fine to me when they had it at the Big North event a couple months back. Jesus time flies in Chicago....

Yeah, I should have preface my statement.

I’m not the biggest fan of the beer, but I know I’m in the minority, and it it tasted exactly the same at big north, as it did on release.

Fuck it. Ill be there for a couple of bottles. I love brown ales and it should make for some decent trade bait.

Half Acre responded to a comment saying there would be a bottle limit of 6 per person. I've got to believe that means they have a ton.

Plus it's hitting distro for the first time. So taken together, they definitely have a lot.

I have to believe both B1 Orin and Benthic had relatively similar batch sizes last year. I'm curious if B2 Benthic (if it even is released) is on this same production level as B2 Orin.

    One can hope.

+1 for hoping. I have a 0% chance of getting it otherwise, given they do releases at 11am on a Friday (my only, albeit very selfish beef, with Half Acre...love everything else about them). It's good that you can find it on draft from them though every now and then; or if you go to big north can be bombarded with it if you so please.

It would be absolutely nuts if they bottled any of the benthic variants this year. I'm the last person to take a day off of work for a beer release, but that would be extremely tempting. Cinnamon Toast Crunch Benthic at the Big North was obscenely good.

Yeah, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch B variant was absolutely nuts at the BN event. Beer of the event if you ask me. Not that you did. Yum... can't get there today for the Orin, oh well, I suppose I can wait a day.

They just announced the Big Hugs release for December 3rd, and that it'll be in 16 ounce cans (but variants still in bombers). I noticed that BA Big Hugs has a limit of 4 bombers - I don't recall the limit last year (and didn't line up to buy any), but that seems higher than I recall.

Variants were 2 per last year. So the limits have gone up which is encouraging. Hopefully we get better weather on release day this year haha. Also of note, they cut the chocolate espresso version

Unfortunately (but fortunately for my wallet), I will be traveling out of state that week and won't get a chance to score any of the variant bottles when they go on sale. I do hope they end up having them available on draft at some point though, as I thought they were all descent last year. Despite chocolate espresso (my favorite) not being released this year, I'm curious to see if the BA version will have more of a barrel presence than the one last year did.
