I manage to do a good job of enjoying myself and then being coherent enough to hang out with the family. If I’m getting away from the family for a weekend, I’m not spending all that money on a hotel in NW Indiana. That really is no serious disrespect to NW Indiana, but I’d rather go to Vegas or something if I’m getting a weekend pass.

 

Everyone should stay away from Handjee this year as I hear it was aged in Muscat barrels.

I kind of want to try a FVM 17 just to see how much they screwed it up. However, the cost of acquisition is greater than my scientific curiosity.

 

Just pour some sugar and Tabasco sauce in a cup and you've got yourself FVM 17. Enjoy!

 

My group has one. Probably drinking it at DLD 18.

If you are going to DLD for Dark Lord, you are going for the wrong reason.

 

DL 17 was actually substantially better than 16, which was grossly sweet (and better than both 15 and 14 as well). I think the 17 is a good beer.

 

I agree 100% 17 dark lord varients got shit on because the base beer was 16 DL and that beer was a hot mess!!! 17 DL was infinitely better so the 18 varients should be even better!!

I'm lucky enough to have a sister that lives in Munster a short drive away or an extremely long walk from 3F. But if I pay for dinner on Friday (Chicago style pizza from Eduardos) and Saturday (gyros from Munster Gyros) for the family she is my shuttle service. I still have yet to open any of my 2017 Dark Lords or my variant, Chem Trail Mix. I plan on sharing 2 with some friends this Friday so I'll let you know my opinion of the 2017 Dark Lord. Does anyone know what year the Dark Lords with the blue wax are from or how I can tell what year it is from? I got one as a gift.

 

Blue Wax - 2014

Just opened one this past weekend and shared it amongst a couple of friends. We all enjoyed it thoroughly.

 

16 was definitely not the best vintage, but nowhere near a “hot mess” either.

15 was fantastic right out of the gate. Need to revisit that one.

 

Re: Shuttle Service from/to Chicago, any other establishments that typically do a bus? I saw Jaks, Reggies, and Beer Temple mentioned so far on this thread.

 

Last year "The Open Bottle" in Tinley Park ran a shuttle. It's right off I-80 and there's hotels a block away. Just another option. Harlem Ave and 183rd street if you're unfamiliar with that area.
