Draft or cans? I picked up a sixer, two cans in and both poured with little to no head, had a metallic taste, and seemed off to me.

Haven't scrolled back, anybody mention how good Seedstock Brewing (at Colfax and Lowell) is doing with lagers? The Czech Pilsner is fantastic, the just released Oktoberfest is amazing, and the Helles (Seedstock Special Hell) I had yesterday may be the best of the bunch.

Totally agreed. They are doing some awesome lagers. That autumn seasonal is tasty too.

Huh. I picked up a sixer in early September that poured with a good head and tasted just how I remembered it.

Pretty cool that they have a Spezial/Festbier and an amber Oktoberfest. I'd heard of them before, but was thinking they were somewhere north of town. I had no idea they were right in the middle of things. Will have to make it over there ones of these days.
Their name creeps me out, though. I picture some kind of bull breeding program.

While not a Colorado-brewed pilsner, it's worth knowing that this beer is now available in town:

A lot of people consider Jever to be the top (readily-available) German pils out there, but this one is more to my personal tastes. It isn't as dry or sharp as Jever or Bierstadt Pils, which is pretty similar. Tannen Zaepfle, Mahr's Pils, and Ayinger Pils are all equally good as long as they aren't old.

As of now, yup. We'll have to see if it ends up like Andechs where we only get one drop a year, though. That Andechs hell is an all-time fave of mine, but it's old as hell 90% of the time.

My favorite German beer. Can't wait to get my hands on some. Might have to stop by Mr. B's on my way home.

I'm gonna hunt for some of the south of town myself. I figure if the shops don't have it yet, they will by the weekend. My favorite pils is still the somewhat obscure Herren, but TZ is at least in the conversation. Jever is a 1 and done for me, while I can put south/central German pilsners down by the gallon.
Fun fact, the State of Baden-Württemberg runs Rothaus.

For those keen, we now have a Vienna Lager on (Starless Age).

How are things at Prost lately? If I only have time to hit one conveniently located brewery, are they currently worth the stop? Will be with a lager fan.

Not as convenient, but Bierstadt is where it's at. Cheap and easy crowlers to go as well. I have enjoyed Prost, but Bierstadt to me is in a class of its own.

I know Bierstadt but convenience is going to be the driver if we go somewhere.

Didn't make it to Prost but at the airport and drinking their Pilsner as I type. Fantastic beet, IMO.

The Bierstadt Doppelbock might be the single best example I've had from the US. I prefer it to some German examples as well. Not sure if they're specifically trying to emulate the one from Andechs, but that's what it tastes like to me.
