Just got the Snowpack today. I sampled them all and will stand by my coffee stout 1000%. The rest were ok but honestly just not on the same level as the Coffee Stout. I paid $12.99 so price is stellar but honestly I felt sad that it was just not killer, if this was 12 coffee stouts I would be a happy person.

I had the same excitement but they both were sort of bland. I just did not find them on the same level as the coffee stout, both seemed flat.

Damn! Depending on when I start seeing it in my area, I may wait till it gets colder to pick up my first one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Mine was already over 5 weeks old. That is the one issue I have, by the time we get into November and December these beers are going to be 3 mos, that IPA will be turding out LOL> I am rolling with Celebration and taking any Coffee Stouts people send me LOL

Just picked up my first Snowpack and 2 6er's of Celebration at Total Wine. Not sure why they didn't have 12 packs?

Either way, I love this time of year and excited to try the Holiday Haze and crush a lot of Celebrations over the next few months.

That doesn't pass the straight face test. People who want new beers want, well, new beers.

Agreed, I'm not sure I get that. They'll buy 9 beers they're not sure they will like but not 12? So if they don't like the other 3 varieties at least they have 3 pale ales? Sounds to me like that person would just buy the pale ale 12 pack.

Well, given the way SN (and Boston Brewing) operates I'd hazard a guess that they base that on sales data rather than just making it up to feel good about themselves. Both SN and BBC have often done the routine of 1 known beer along with three other new ones. Similarly, most every brewery I'm aware of that does mixed 12 packs includes at least one or two flagship beers in their variety 12 pack. (Most of us on this site are in no way representative of the typical consumer.)

I'd hazard a guess that it's about money and the margin on a beer like SNPA is a lot higher than the seasonal one-offs. If it were my company, I'd do the same thing.

Oh sure, these packs are made up based on business decisions though I don't believe the inclusion of a few Pale Ales will induce customers to buy the other nine. Customers who want PA can already get it. Frankly I believe it's the other way around in that the Snowpack being used as a means of getting SNPA into the consumer's shopping basket.

Well, in the absence of access to the data, what either of us believes is just speculation. :sunglasses:

Just cracked a Holiday Haze, and while not a huge proponent of the style, I'm loving SN's take on it. Well done!

Also looking forward to revisiting the Coffee Stout. Last I had it was something like 3 years ago and loved it then.

Maybe the customer has heard about SNPA so they will buy a 12 pack due to being in the mix pack.I think its making some type of connection with a basic customer. Most packs seem to have a flagship in them.

    Enjoy

So what is the overall consensus on the snowpack, did you guys like it, hate it, etc. I am working through mine and really love the coffee stout, the hazy IPA is ok, wintertide is a little underwhelming, and the PA is same as always. As a whole it was not a horrible pack but thinking about the possible items that could be done I think next year SN needs to hit us with something amazing and leave those PA out for once for the loyal fans.....
    Cheers

The holiday haze is much better than I was expecting it to be. I would buy this in a sixer if they sold one. Not quite on par with Celebration (though in my mind no beer will ever be on par with Celebration) but pretty tasty overall. Haven't had the coffee stout yet, but I assume its as good as the last time. Wintertide reminded me of a pumpkin ale, but with less pumpkin.

OK first let me say I LOVE SN...I look forward to Celebration every year and I drank enough Tropical Torpedo to float a battleship over the summer.
    Now that wretched Snowpack-terrible,I'm sorry...
Wintertide- [terrible name for an awful beer] if you've ever tried ANY mediocre 'winter' ale you've had this-spices and NO beer taste.
Hazy IPA-Dank from SN?? WTH? this is not a good beer and if anyone has one pour a half glass and let it sit for 24 hrs...you won't want to drink it again...
Coffee Stout-lots of love on BA but none here...thin cheap coffee taste and where is the stout underneath??? I couldn't taste it and I love me some Narwhal..
Thank God they put good old Pale Ale in there because the others seem like a quick reaction to the season...just a mess...I'm done and going to have a Celebration.
