2017 Westbrook Releases

I wrote silent release but i meant unannounced ticketed release, my bad.

 

They try to take of the locals with silent releases of regular and coffee cake. Also, you guys get to drink amazing on site bottles (yes, some are quite expensive). The day of the BA cake release it sounds like they have awesome taps that locals get to enjoy as well. Seems like they're doing a good job of taking care of locals while still showing their national distro footprint some love with a ticketed release for the BA version.

 

I'll say in my area of SC, they are probably the top seller at my bottle shop and the local haunts. But, we do get some of the variants of IPAs they release, cake kegs, etc. I'm just glad they started making more Key Lime Pie as last year it didn't stay on the shelf longer than an hour. This year they made plenty.

There are some interesting feelings about Westbrook in Charleston and how they got started, their place in the industry/city, etc. They had the finances to be one of the first breweries in SC to have their own canning while most relied on a mobile canning. This allowed them to get a huge jumpstart on every other brewery and gain considerable market share and shelf space.

 

I wouldn’t expect any changes this year, the wording of the page currently reflects how the last two releases were handled.

Yeah, these guys have been making a ton of beer and there is plenty of good stuff for the locals. The beef needs to be with WB for only doing two barrels of variants BA cake and maybe eight of regular BA Cake.....and not with people that aren't from the Charleston area. I'm from Chicago and I spend a ton of money there every year and I fully support WB over other local breweries whenever I'm in town. I was fortunate enough to score a ticket last year for BA Cake, but I doubt I'll be so lucky again this year. Everything I kept for myself and for bottle shares with the exception of one Red Wine Cake.

Those (Citrus Redacted cans) are going into distribution starting tomorrow as well as the newest Rinse/Repeat release

 

Citrus redacted kegs hit around here. Wasn't a big fan of it. The mosaic rinse was ok but that galaxy was a home run.

 

Thought galaxy was not good. Heard the motueka or wakiti was good though. Havent had mosiac though. With the exeption of two claw I think westbrooks IPAs have been pretty bad since Shane left and how hes head brewer at a brewery opening in North Charleston, park circle I believe.

 

Shane hasn’t been there in years.
