Well last time I was in that area, I stopped at Half Time and there I picked up <1 month-old Maine Beer Co. Lunch, which I'd recommend (see my review, if you're interested), and they had a bunch of other good IPAs. They should have Sculpin, among other things.

Last year the 22oz release of perpetual was amazing, then this year in 12 oz bottles, and also had on tap, wasnt half the beer it was, wasnt as citric or balanced, and many others i had with agreed.

Also dont forget about sixpoints resin for a really nice hop kick

Just keep in mind that Sixpoint's dating is a freshness date, set nine months from packaging. So like, a beer canned today would have a "Best By" date of July 18, 2013.

I still don't get why all breweries just don't slap a best buy date on their bottles. would make everything easy and no sub-par brews

Very true. I personally would prefer a printed bottling / canning date, like "Bottled [Canned] on: 10/18/12" so you can decide for yourself when's best to drink it. If you'd like to recommend that the buyer drinks it within a certain time limit, whatever that may be, then fine.

Maine does it pretty well, it has the bottling date in that format and says they recommend to drink within 90 days.

yup, when I grab a bottle with no bottled on date or best buy it makes me think, and when i do that I probably go for something else

Peekskill Brewery just came out with an absolutely killer Coffee Black IPA called Midnight Toker. Not too far from Dobbs Ferry I believe.

Crossroads Outrage IPA gets my vote. It's in Athens, NY, a short jump and a skip...

Toxic sludge-black ipa from blue point down on the island is one of my favorite locals. Long Ireland also just put out a single ipa that's pretty good.

Lunch, Maine Beer Company. Also check out their pale ales Peeper and MO, really hoppy and fruity. Ithaca flower power is sick and weyerbaucher double simcoe...

I used to get Bear Republic Racer 5 in NY- you guys still get that one, I assume? If so, then definitely give that one a shot.

Victory Yakima Glory should be coming out soon- that's a really nice one.

Troegs Dead Reckoning Porter is hoppy, and in the ballpark, but more importantly it's an excellent beer. Just don't sleep on it, it just won't be the same come the middle of November.

If you get Arcadia in NY, their B-Craft Black is also really good. It's definitely available in north NJ if you are ever on this side of the river.
