I’m honestly very surprised no one mentioned monkishs release of Socrates, Philosophies and hypotheses today.

I feel like waiting for a Monkish release is the equivalent to a walk of shame given the line/stroller hate.

That said... I had a short day at work and made it to the release. Earlier than I'd care to admit. Yes there were strollers, grandmothers, circus clowns, the whole kitchen sink. I will say though that both beers are tasting phenomenal. Legit really really good.

I just finished a Socrates. I usually HATE TIPA's. My sweet spot is in the 7%~ range, anything higher tends to be a boozy mess. This beer is stupidly drinkable and has a great hop bite. 2-3 weeks and it'll be amazing. The pilsner though... Damn what a surprise! Loving this stuff. Heard many complaining in line because it's a pilsner but I'm loving it. Not unfiltered or anything like that, just a clean and well down pilsner.

TLDR: Strollers, lines, personal shame, good beer.

no one cares prolly because they can't get any...stupid hard to get...
Monkish is literally KING. it may be that I'm jumping on the hazecraze but IDC because Monkish brings the HEAT. Everything they come out with is STRAIGHT GOLD.
Socrates is stupid easy to drink for being a 10%er. I'm only going to be trading one or two cans, the rest I'll keep. Pilsner is good for being a Pilsner. Monkish RULES

Basically by the time it's announced on instagram and reported here, the lines already not worth the hassle, nor worth the hassle to talk about.

I spoke with Eric this afternoon, he told me when he arrived at 9am there was already people lining up. With no notice there was 175 people in line BEFORE a notification was sent out at opening, had some Socrates today, needs some time but is crazy good for the ABV.

    Cheers,

Exactly, let those who will use it as trade fodder deal with the lines. It's on tap there, so that's all that matters for folks who just want to drink the beer and not use it as monopoly money.

I agree with you, but everyone says it taste much better out of the can. I suspect that True, because while I really enjoy monkish on draft.... I've had quite a few cans and crowlers much better than monkish - over the last six months. I don't doubt their cans are King. Don't fault those that have the time to stand in line for them.

175 in line BEFORE a notification went out?!?
But, but their website says they don't give out release info before their IG post.
There's a leaker. Get Mueller down here...

they announce how many releases there will be in each week on the monday starting the week. this week they said there would be 1 release. As soon as there was no release thursday I knew there would be one friday (and i live in norcal / have no reason to care) It looks like other people have brains too i guess

Yup - they rarely do a Saturday release so chances for a Friday release were pretty good. I arrived one hour before opening and there were at least 70 or so in front of me. Employees were out early moving the lines around the parking lot so it made sense upon arriving that they were planning on a release.

Yes, group of 5-10 of them. Before wristbands are given out if one is in line, others come up say hello and give em a dap. Stay there. Smh.

I’ve always said it, that their has to be someone giving heads up to people that there is going to be a release. I know theres always a few showing up hoping for one, but its crazy to see how many people get there that quick/early.

Unfortunately I'm not. Most gastropubs (haven, etc), breweries have HH members. They all post on fb if something is being released. You should join.. Do you like doing bottle shares with only rare whalez?
