Yeah I ended up calling before trekking over from the Detroit burbs and had a pour as well. This stuff is extremely drinkable based on its abv. Brought home some Sadler’s Run and Backwoods as well. Definately worth the trip.

Announcing the sixth and final release in the 2017 Barrel-Aged Series!

    CBS

CBS was born when we stumbled upon some bourbon barrels that had previously housed maple syrup. We opted to put the same base beer as KBS, an imperialized version of Breakfast Stout, in the maple barrels and, after one taste, we knew we had something special. Rich maple syrup, roasted coffee and velvety chocolate meld together in what can only be described as a transcendental drinking experience.

Last bottled in 2011, CBS has become one of the most highly sought-after beers in the world and for good reason. It’s damn good. You all have been very vocal in petitioning for its return and it would’ve been cruel for us to hold out any longer in delivering on that.

CBS will be available everywhere, including our Grand Rapids taproom, on draft and in 750mL bottles beginning on December 1. It will have a suggested retail price of $24.99 a bottle.

Similar to our annual release of KBS, CBS will be released via an online ticket sale. More info, including its availability at our soon-to-be-open Detroit taproom, coming in the public announcement next week!

The worst kept secret in the beer community has been confirmed...

There have been cases of it sitting at my local Meijer store, $14.79/4pk.

Any idea if CBS will hit distribution in Chicago? I'm assuming it will in extremely limited, better set your tent up now and kiss your wife good bye for two days, type of scenario.

On completely unrelated note, anyone set up a truck chasing app? Asking for a friend. Waze for beer nerds. Patent Pending.

All the barrel aged stuff from Founder's this year has been plentiful. I don't see why CBS also wouldn't be but.....what do I know.

It is the first barrel aged release that appears to be 750ML bottles only (no 4-packs) - so either that means there is less of it, or they are trying to make it go farther ... take your guess.

Gonna guess it'll be in smaller quantity since there probably aren't a ton of maple syrup barrels in existence.

Maybe I'm misjudging the hype, or my own personal overrating of CBS (I've only had it once, but I REALLY enjoyed it) but would suspect the turnout for this one would be far greater than any other Founders' bbl aged release?

Then again, it's all about expectations management for me. I just assume everything will be an absolute cluster when it comes to releases, so when it's not I'm pleasantly surprised. Better this way.

I'm not saying that it'll be stacked to the rafters at Binnys but I imagine you'll have a good shot at getting a bottle as long as we're all on top of the day it releases.

Welp, I was already trying to decide whether to take a full or half personal day on 12/1 for totally non-beer related reasons. That decision has now been made.

Where is this info found? I’ve checked where I’d think I’d see it but don’t...

I recall seeing something from founders cadry where if you did something for them then you would get exciting news emailed to you... I didn’t do that something since I’m a millennial and all

I received one of the flag kits they sent out - but I didn't know about it until yesterday! A little late at that point. Would have created a twitter account and posted it just at the small chance I'd get a ticket for the CBS release or something.

Makes me wonder if CBS will be released at Founders only on December 1 or over the course of several days like KBS to reduce bedlam.

Regarding the Cadre post on the CBS release, it looks like they removed the language about the Detroit taproom. I would guess it's because they can't guarantee it'll be open in time. I drove by the location over the weekend, and it looks very far from being ready, even though I've heard it's supposed to be open by December.

Looks like it reads it will be released nationally on Dec 1. I think the tickets are probably to guarantee people a certain allotment, like KBS. We should know for sure next week when we get the official release details.

I have some PTO that I have to burn before the end of the year. As soon as I heard the news, seemed like a perfect reason to take the day off
