I applaud the ticketed release, but am not happy about the large only format.

I personally get more enjoyment out of opening a 12oz bottle on a regular basis than a large bottle I need a special occasion to open.

I also think the limits will be pretty scarce due to the size. My guess is 4 bottles per ticket.

The first CBS release (2011, first Backstage Series release) hit Chicago and was 750 only. IIRC, most smaller stores received a case (and no idea how many places actually received them). No idea if the production will be more this year, but it should definitely hit here.

My comment wasn't clear - I was referring specifically to the 2017 lineup of barrel aged beers - all of which, to date, have been released in 4-pack 12 oz bottles and 750 ML bottles. (Frootwood, KBS, Doom, DKML, Backwoods Bastard)

Yeah, I was mainly replying to all of the comments regarding it hitting Chicago. You were just the lucky one to get chosen, because I'm lazy and didn't want to choose all of the replies

I was thinking more like 2 bottles per ticket. I’d personally be thrilled if it was 4.

haha - yea, I've already been told by some people in the industry that it will see distribution here. I'm not worried about that.

I'm curious what the allotment was for KBS for the ticketed release. If KBS was a case (seems like a lot?), I'd imagine 4 bottles seems reasonable. -That's 1/3rd of a case (by volume, regardless of whether you are looking at cases of 12oz or cases of 750s). Hard to imagine more than 4 bottles/allotment.

I’m splitting the difference. I’ll say the bottles per person.

You had a choice, no partial allotments:

    2 4pk 12oz + 1 22oz
    or
    4 4pk 12oz + 2 22oz

Interesting - so exactly 1/2 case or 1 full case.

I'd imagine then that the allotment for CBS will be something like 4 bottles then. That *feels* reasonable.

So...what are some good craft stores in Grand Rapids that have a great selection of Founders?

Looking at my calendar, I have a reminder on Dec 1 to go to Founders to sign up for mug club. Have to do it IP on Dec 1. Hoping it would be relatively quiet, now not so much.

Any chance CBS sees Ohio distro?

Ohio got rid of the ABV cap right? So if Founders distributes there (I'm assuming it does) then yes it should be distributed there.

We have been botching label approvals a lot lately, if it comes, it'll likely be late.

When did KBS hit relative to 1 April this year?

KBS was a few days late. We didn't get BCBS last year because of label issues (allegedly). DKML was well over a month later than Kentucky.

Do you guys think the tickets for release in GR will be 1 day only or will they do something like 4-5 days?

Hard to say. CBS is a different beast, considering maple syrup barrels are so much more scarce than Bourbon.

There’s no real way to know what the production is until they announce it.
