Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

Looks like Hop Butcher will be doing a collab with Weldwerks

 

I had Loosey Juicy on draft a couple of weeks ago and didn't think it had a soft mouthfeel or much citrus. I do agree it had a hop bitterness on the end you don't usually find with NEIPA's. It wasn't a bad IPA but not a very good NEIPA in my opinion. Maybe variation between draft and can?

 

The orange citrus was up front only; it was quickly overtaken by the bitterness.

I got it much more in the nose than the flavor.

I did like the mouthfeel, so maybe some variation there.

 

For anyone in the far northwest burbs... crystal lake brewing is releasing their first NEIPA on draft at dukes on 11/2

 

Looks like Penrose may be jumping into the haze game...maybe. Living in Geneva and frequenting Penrose, I hope they are starting to experiment with the style.

To be fair: Doppelganger is not a great Tree House offering. Doubleganger, however, is a straight up stunner...

 

Respectfully disagree. Can’t speak to the new brewery, but having fresh Doppelgänger from Monson was one of the very best hoppy beers I’ve ever had. A worthy equal to Julius or Haze in my experience

 

Fair enough. I HAVE had fresh Doubleganger from the new brewery, & it's a top 5 New England IPA for me, all time...
