When I visited the Salvator Keller I had a half liter of the Salvator -- but it was so good I had to have another half. My friends thought I was crazy, but I survived with no trouble.

Hooker liberator is excellent and really the only good beer they make IMO.
Salvator is king for me though

I live in NC about 1.5 hours from the Duck Rabit brewery. Where on earth is it sold? Seasonal?

Another Dopplebock lover here. I'm a GD fan but didn't really love Wolfgang all that much though. Love Salvator, Troegenator, Bell's, Duck Rabbit, Celebrator, Korbinian, even Sam Adam's Double Bock. Awesome style.

I too was refering to the schwarzbier. Durham is a little out of my way. Does Total Wine carry it per chance?

I definitely saw it at the Durham total wine last week. Can't speak to the price or availability at other Total Wine's, though. Good luck, it's good!

2 good Dopplebocks here in Texas. One from Franconia, and other from Karbach.

Love me some Troegenator. I did try Susquehanna's Toboggan Chocolate Doppelbock last year and thought it was the absolute worst beer I've ever had as far as micros go - I really wanted to like it since I grew up near the area where the brewery is located.

Had never had one until last weekend I had a Korbinian and damn was it good! Really gotta try Celebrator now. Tried a Vitus as well and Weihenstephaner has just impressed the hell out of me, especially at the price point, one of the best deals there is.

Salvator is one of my favorites! It reminds me a little of red vines.

love them, not sure why jacks abby saxonator comes out in winter rather than octoberfest time frame, but i drink it when i can find it

Because it's a Doppelbock and not an Oktoberfest? Traditionally, Doppelbocks were released as holiday beers and late winter/early spring beers -- probably why JA chose to release the Saxonator in winter.

Fortunately, the Germans brew and drink beer year-round... just like us. :grinning:
