Completely agree. No sense at all. And I drank a 10/19 in my fridge that I had when it first came out next to this and it's night and day. I am stupefied. Absolutely bizarre - but I promise you this is outstanding.

Well my science experiment is underway and it's a good beer but yes indeed tastes like a 3.5 month old abrasive. Lol. I don't doubt your experience though. Maybe it was supposed to be 1/19 and someone screwed up the date stamp machine.

Totally possible. Exactly how my 3.5month old tasted and this is great!

Just posted in the bottle hunt thread but repeating because of the last few posts.
Just ran into 11/15 Abrasive at falls liquors. Assuming that the cans you had we actually bottle in October. Either that or they had a really weird screw up with the dating machine.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this, but just wanted to share given most of the comments here and how my experience has been different - Abrasive for me is one of those beers that I don't notice much of a difference whether it's fresh or 3-4 months old - this year included. I've even had a 9 month old one where it was still pretty solid.

Now I'm not advocating to drink the 9 month old one like I did and expect it to be great and will buy freshest whenever available, but I wouldn't shy away from it solely because of the dating. The price on the other hand...

Hmmm...week old Hopslam from Michigan, or 3 month old Surly from Minneapolis.

    What should I pick?

Abrasive 11/15 $8.50 at zipps. I picked up a 4 pack because what the hell, and it did not disappoint. Oddly enough like it better than the first batch that i had like 4 days after canning. Guess 11 week old abrasive is where its at!

I hear we are coming to the end of Abrasive for the season.

End of Abrasive season was <1 month after the last canning date. Only bought 2 four packs this year. Would of purchased more but never saw anything fresher. Too bad.

Used to preach that Abrasive was good even 1 YEAR after canning but the last 2 years was not the case. Faded fast and very metallic after a couple months.

Todd is a great beer and the last 2 canning dates have been outstanding.

First run of 2017 tastes great. My only complaint is the new graphics on the outside box but same old graphics on the cans. Maybe they are just working through the old stock? Overall happy with my purchase.

Agree that the first Abrasive 2017 release is a total treat. No NE IPA here, but can hold its own in the MN classic IPA realm. Great aroma, full numb inducing IPA taste, mouth feel that is full of slurp opportunities.

Yup, me too. Yearly ritual. Also scored some Toppling Goliath while I was at it.

Nice. I got Abrasive, Sue, DDH Galaxy Sue, and Hopsmack. Just finished my last Troon crowler last night and will have gone through my Tree House/Trillium stash just in time for the midwest beers to arrive. Not a bad couple of weeks.

Not loving my 10/19 Abrasive. No big hop punch. No real complexity and a little sweet.

Just finishing my first 10/17 Abrasive. Tastes great to me. Tons of hops, very little malt. The only thing I'd say is the aroma isn't as intense or complex as when I first had it, but it's fresh, bitter and very good.
