I really liked Fullsteams first go at the NE style, hoping they can strike gold again.

Cant wait to see Heist finally blow open the doors whenever they get the new production facility up and running. Distribution finally?? As CLT heats up with so much competition, they are crazy if they dont keep citraquench'l flowing....and their crowler machine humming.

Salud just did La Respueta (sp?)---their take on a NE and it was great.

Yeah, I thought La Respuesta was really good. I was under the impression that Heist was supposed to open the new place in late summer but that's obviously come and gone. I'm not sure what the new timeline is.

I keep trying to get hyped on Heist's IPAs, but holy cow do they have a heavy hand on the malt base. Especially when you compare them to New Anthem who seems to be knocking it out of the park with IPAs as of late.

    Loved New Anthem's Steez.

Had Heist's "Not Another IPA" the other week along with the Bee Fruitful. both were really just average and not Heists usual IPA production.

I give them a pass when I visit though. That food is great. Especially that sunday brunch. holy hell.

Agreed here. I visited Heist a few weekends ago and they didn't quite meet the hype for me. Granted, Citraquench'l wasn't on so I won't rush to judgment. Overall, I think Salud's La Respuesta was a clear winner between it and 'Not Another' from Heist. Respuesta was probably the haziest, most complete beer I've had in recent history.

Outta this galaxy I think is still on over at Trophy Maywood too. Seriously the only Trophy beer I'll go out of my way for.

Just popping in to say that I tried Fiddler's Dream (IPA) and Fiddler's Nightmare (IIPA) from Newgrass in Shelby and they were both great!

Newest batch of Grove is really, really good.

I liked their new Triple IPA more than most triples, but think I’ll stick to the Grove.

Had it on draft, not sure if they’ve done a new run of cans yet, but if not I’d expect they would be soon.

I got a FB message from Bhavana today. Grove will be part of this weeks pre filled growlers. And I feel like 12 bucks isn't that bad. That includes bottle deposit. Glad to hear it's good because I really want to get some. Would prefer cans, but I'll get what I can.

NC IPAs are coming slowly, but they are coming.

Burial's new series of IPAs and DIPAs are all fantastic.

Heist has stopped canning, probably waiting on the new brewery, but I still view them as the king for NC.

New Anthem is a close second.

Heist was pretty much the first in the state to nail a hazy ipa, but they’ve been caught and surpassed IMO. Still great though.

New Anthem and Heist seemingly crank out incredible hops offering every time. Wilmington Brewing Company and Brewery Bhavana are in the conversation for best IPAs in the state as well. Burial is solid, but inconsistent. I would put Bond Brothers and Trophy in the solid but inconsistent camp as well.

Agree on all counts. I’d also throw High Branch in the conversation, they’re small but trending up big time in terms of hoppy stuff.

But yeah New Anthem has seemingly kinda come out of nowhere to be one of the best. Had their session ipa Spun yesterday and it was crazy good. I also like how they make several 7%ers instead of DIPA after DIPA.

In terms of core IPAs, pernicious and surf wax pretty much destroy everyone in the state imo. Burial’s been killing it with their new releases lately, they pretty much feel like the only brewery in AVL who’re keeping up with the trends on a competive level, atleast in terms of the haze craze.

I swear I saw this post as well but now I can't find it anywhere. What was the other option, do you remember?
