Chicago Stout Releases (2018)

I have 1 bottle of "regular" & 1 bottle of toasted coconut...I'll report back ASAP.

 

I had one bottle out of 4 and was very disappointed. The saltiness felt slick and the snickers flavor wasn't there for me. I was super curious with that flavor in a lower abv stout too. Ill have to try another bottle

 

Agree, I remember having this a year ago and thinking it's a liquid snickers bar, this year none of that, very disappointed.

 

I had it on draft a while back, I found every taste of it even from the same glass to be very inconsistent. I was mostly getting a slight peanut taste on the back with some chocolate upfront.


Also, I know I read on Perennial's site Abraxas would be shipped out the second week of November, anyone have an idea if that will be this week or next in the Chicago market?

 

Beer Temple is doing release/tasting on the 14th. So I’d guess around then.

 

This is the first week of November, so I doubt it would be this week...and I doubt we would even see it next week actually. I believe last year it hit Chicago the 3rd week of November, and I think it was the same in 2015 as well.

I was just down there last week. They had their release for the locals that bought tickets in advance. $100 got you 2 reg, 1 coffee and 1 vanilla bean. Tried the vanilla bean on tap (too sweet) and bought a reg off a guy next to me. My lucky day!

 

I had Vanilla Bean Abraxas on draft at Perennial in 2016, and I thought it was way too sweey as well. It's my least favorite of the Abraxas line up.

 

I heard they really dialed it in this year. Just have to get the system just right

 

If you see CBS events in Chicagoland, please post them here. If we see enough, we can make a stand alone thread.

So far The Open Bottle has a ticketed midnight tapping on Thursday/Friday 12/1. Plank Road Taproom has a ticketed brunch on 12/10.

 

Hey, don’t you have a suburb thread for those kinds of places?!

 

Including city events. I guess we could have two different places for cbs events but that seems redundant. Plus that other thread seems more for releases from suburban breweries

 

It started out that way, but people have asked for thing such as this. I think everyone should post any CBS events here, and I can comb through and add the suburban ones into the other thread.

 

I was just kidding, although I do think there have been posts about suburban releases from non-suburban breweries in that thread as well.

 

Sorry my ability to decipher humor at 5:50 am is apparently pretty weak haha. Again, if we start seeing that there are CBS events all of the place we can just make a one-stop thread (but keep the Michiganders out!)

Liver transplant and a couple days of recovery is my guess.
