Does anyone know how to transfer a ticket from one person to another? Do they even check the names? Or do I need to call the organizers of FOBAB? Has anyone succesfully done this?

You can transfer the ticket via the universe.com ticketing website

Last night, I signed up volunteer for Saturday pm. I know I signed up relatively late and this will be my first time. Has the training session already happened? If so, has anyone already received the reading material?

    Thanks in advance.

No formal training session this year, however the reading material has been sent out, as I received an email this past Wednesday. Its just an automated email with a pretty lengthy PDF attachment outlining volunteer detail, rules/regulations. What's your email? I can forward to you if you like.

Ricobene’s. It’s not down the block or really walkable, but it on the south side, and maybe a 7 min Uber ride away.

The fried steak sammys is one of the best around. High marks from Bourdain also.

It’ll definitely give you a great base for the best. It might also put you in a food coma.

If you wanna venture out farther away from the venue, there’s other places I’d recommend also.

When I am anywhere near Au Cheval, that's where I go.

If there’s a large party, might be tough.

We go to Manny's Deli every year before Fobab. Though we go before the early Saturday session. It’s only a few blocks from UIC forum.

Breakfast Rec for the Saturday AM peeps: Cochon Volant downtown. Nutella Waffles are amazing and gave me a great base for FOBAB. That meal allowed me to pass on the dumpster fire of food at the convention center. My other tip: Get in the long ass Goose line at 3:00 and “waste” 30-45 minutes. Have a few low abv sips in line. This mini-break let me go strong all day and even afterwards.

I don't necessarily recommend drinking before FoBaB, but Forbidden Root would be my recommendation on your way down. The food is great and the beer is some of the best in the city, including awesome NEIPAs. I also really enjoy Pleasant House for superb English food (which is a bit closer to the venue).

Of course, you could always try for Au Cheval, which is absolutely worthy of the title "Best Burger in Chicago" (as a burger aficionado, I further claim it to be top three burgers that I've ever had). Unfortunately, it's always, always busy.

The breaded pork chop sandwich has ruined a few work days for me. Delicious...but debilitating.

While it ain't cheap I don't think I've ever had a less than excellent meal at The Publican (granted, it's almost always brunch). If you go this route you may want to try to make a reservation. For a mid-FOBAB food break I walk to Jim's Original for a polish.

Considering all the different options everyone gave, maybe you should’ve just said you wanted a Mexican place.

I’d say, are you looking for a nicer sit down style place, or just a burrito joint? And do you want to be close to the FOBAB location?
