I believe the polite terminology is "on-trend"

Vitamin Sea, which from what I can tell doesn’t actually exist yet, created an entry on untappd in December 2016. Two weeks before Otter Creek Orange Dream was added on BA. So, I guess you’re right. Timing is funny though, no?

I got nothing against them. I just think their name kinda stinks.

Otter Creek's beer isn't a NEIPA or even an IPA. It's a cream ale. Minimal hops. Sounds like the Vitamin Sea one is also a cream ale. Heard Otter Creek brewed it on pilot last year and it was so popular, they decided to bring it back.

To be fair, the concept is pretty basic. Cream ale- add orange, name it after a creamsicle? So innovative, you guys. NO ONE ELSE COULD EVER THINK OF IT.

LOL! What do you look for in a brewery name...?

Innovation has nothing to do with doing something that is inherently or totally different. It often just means doing something better.

Could you imagine if just because Brewery A did a certain style of beer, Brewery B decided they weren't going to do it? That'd be terrible for the consumer.

Agree 100%. And to be honest, this thread/conversation has their name on peoples' minds, so it's good for them ultimately.

Met Dino in line randomly in Monson and got to talking about his brewery. Saw him again in the line for Trillbomb. Definitely a good dude but I would be remiss if I didn't mention I feel left out of the group that gets to drink all their recent beers. :flushed:

Since I actually drank it then, I would trust the guy who actually had it as opposed to the guy thread shitting. There are other beers called Orange Cream Dream too - just saying.

I got to try one a few months back, at this point I'm just patiently waiting for them to open

Well, I did drink the Otter Creek one, in case you're implying otherwise. I just find it silly to compare a NEIPA to a cream ale and to say 'one did it first' cause, hello, very different beers!

As for Vitamin Sea, are they draft only? Do they can? How is their beer available to the masses?

I'm happy to give them a chance but I'm not going to pretend that they don't have the worst brewery name of all time.

The VSB is a cream Ale as well not a NEIPA. They are unable to sell their beer currently so follow them on Instagram maybe send them a message, they try to get what they brew to as many people as possible.

I did pick up on that style similarity, which is why I was responding to the person who compared both to another regional NEIPA and said that NEIPA came out first. My point is, who cares who's first? There's a local brewer here who thinks his creative beer ideas are ONLY his and every else in the world is ripping him off. Flavor concepts are one thing and visual art is another. It's obvious when something looks like something else, almost always. But even the same brewery makes different tasting beer from the same recipe, and if different brewers make it, it's nearly always going to be something else entirely. Whoever does it BEST is going to win that battle.

I'd happily try the Vitamin Sea one, mostly because the Otter Creek one just isn't that good and I really enjoy cream ales, but it kind of sounds like they're glorified homebrew at this point TBH in terms of accessibility.

They use real Madagascar Vanilla beans and Orange Zest in the Ale - never skimp on the ingredients. It’s nothing like opening a brewery in VT. Plus it doesn’t help that they are trying to open in one of the most expensive /sq ft areas in the country. I expect they’ll open sometime next year.

I'm sure you know all about opening a brewery in VT  Though honestly, maybe they'd do better here considering that any old homebrewer is pretty much able to buy a barn or old town shop and sell beer out of it locally anymore. I know a renowned homebrewer, who in the course of a year, opened a brewery and is distributing to some of the best craft beer bars in NE (like Novare Res). Sounds like they could use that sort of help, instead of one dude who only aggro defends their beer online.

If he/she is friends with Shaheen, Dino probably knows him/her. I’m not being agro just giving the facts because people on BA tend to try to drop knowledge without any knowledge at all. Fact is MA is easily the hardest state in NE to open a brewery unless you go contract but then you give up a lot, that’s why it’s called contract brewing, as well as, metro Boston having either to highest to top 3 cost wise / sq foot for real estate. But those are just facts, what do I know?

I’ve also had the opportunity to try all their beer so I do have that going for me too and again not just thread shitting.
