    Hey all,

I'll be in beautiful Waco, TX next week for work and wondered what besides Jester King I should try and find. Any suggestions? I will be flying in to DFW and driving down so could possibly make a small detour for a good bottle shop in Dallas. Thanks!

Awesome, thanks! I go to Oklahoma a lot so I've had most of the Boulevard beers. I'll keep my eyes open for Saint Arnold and the two draft ones.

You should be able to find Rahr in Waco. Great brewery from Fort Worth.

While in Dallas pick up some Southern Star cans, good stuff and easy to transport. Just don't bother trying the Pine Belt....horrible stuff. There is a great bottle shop up in Carrollton, but not being a local I forget the name.

If you have time to stop into the Meddlesome Moth and grab a couple pints and maybe lunch, much worth visiting. And there are 3 Flying Saucer locations in the greater DFW area as well. check 'em out at Beerknurd.com, you can look up what available every day too.

I disagree with this statement as well. Give the Pine Belt a try if you find it. I am considering serving some at our wedding.

I quite like Pine Belt Pale Ale. To each his own, I suppose.

I have to admit, it is my opinion. Obviously there are enough fans that it is kept in production(however, they never seem to serve it at the brewery). I have heard very few voices that like it, but yes, it is still my opinion.(and that of many others). I don't THINK it is a good representation of TX beer.

I do agree that Pine Belt Pale is just ok and I have never bought it in cans while I have bought everything else they make at least a few times each. In case you didn't catch the lebowski reference he made...:sunglasses:

I cant believe that nobody has mentioned 512 Pecan Porter on tap and only Rodeo Clown from Karbach. Anything from either of these guys are great.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Convict Hill by Independence. Fantastic stuff. I'd also recommend the following:

    Real Ale Phoenixx Double ESB
Southern Star Convict Hill (I like Pine Belt too :stuck_out_tongue:)
    Real Ale XV
    Rahr Bourbon-Barrel Winter Warmer

Not sure how available the last two will be in Waco and DFW. I only threw them in because my store in San Antonio still has a lot of both.

Stop by Hall's in Colleyville/Euless. Best selection in town and it's right by DFW Airport.

Buried Hatchet is one of my local loves. Must say I truly enjoy having the brewery so close. Love visiting every now and then and having a couple fresh pours.
