Plank Road Taproom in Elgin had Vanilla and Coffee on draft. The Beer Temple in Chicago will likely have both next week based on what they have said on social media.

I like the events since you know when something will actually be released so it is on you to plan for it. Thanks man for the info!

Thanks for the post! generally at binnys for abraxas how early do you show up and is there a line inside starting where or outside? this seems awkward given if you show up super early and there isnt a line you could be that weird dude walking awkwardly in the store.

Go in the store and go back towards the champagne area and bar. The line will be in that area. If you don't see a line, ask an employee - they won't bite.

The limited release 'waiting for the delivery truck' stroll? Nah, happens all the time here. When in Rome...

I would think about an hour and a half to 2 bours should be a safe time if you want to grab a bottle. Got there like 45 minutes before they started selling it last year and was one of the last people in line to get a bottle.

Worse case, get there super early and chill out at Goose or the Mousetrap and hang in the area before release time.

I'll see some of you guys at the Binnys tomorrow chilling with some Abraxas. Say hi if ya get the chance!

The release is moved up one hour this year which is a wild card (plus it was Election Day last year). I checked my old post and I got there at 5 and was 30/35 in line. That was an hour early though unlike this year

That's one line I won't forget just due to all the smiling faces coming in to buy champagne for later that evening.

I showed up around 6:10 and the line was snaking through the building, hard to tell where it ended as I haven't been there since they opened the bar. I decided to just grab a glass of Vanilla Abraxas instead through the other side of the building. Stood around for about 15 mins thinking I wouldn't even get a chance to try it. Bar was probably 5 people deep whole time I was there on the right side. Eventually one bartender came over and guy next to me ordered 4 vanillas. I quickpayed him for a beer instead of waiting around hoping to get called on. (Thank you if you read this).

After that I saw the end of the line, decided to get in. Was in line for about 2 mins when someone walked out after buying a bottle and said there were 66 left. I did a quick estimate and assumed I would not be getting a bottle and left. If I got in line right away I would have gotten a bottle, not sure if I would have still gotten a glass of vanilla (not sure when/if it kicked). I would say you were able to move around but feel like this would have been better with a line outside (it wasn't that cold) to free up the inside area for people just wanting to grab a drink.

Saw pics of the draft board before but prices are higher than I would expect

The line was silly. I got there at like 515, drank a glass of the encore and wandered in the shop. Waited to see if the line would shrink after the release started, it didn't. I drank some vanilla and left.

Every whale release should be like GI Clybourn (I'm never calling it the GI Brewpub) Black Friday where it is ticketed and you get a guaranteed pour handed to you in a relaxed setting so you don't have to fight through a crowd and then you take your bottle home with you. Brewers are leaving a lot of money on the table by not doing this....
