Pretty sure the answer is Beer Run. But maybe my friend @rugerj has more insight.

^^That is correct. Beer Run is the best bottle shop in town and generally all around great place for taps, food and people. If you are curious as to what recent bottles/cans they got in you can check out the "What's New" link on their website as well as tap list under Navigation - "What's on Tap". They do a great job keeping that current.

As far as breweries go I enjoy Random Row and both Three Notch'd locations especially the new one at IX park which is also a full service restaurant. Hardywood and South Street are also solid. Why not just throw Champion in there to round out all the downtown breweries. HA. You can also drive about 20 mins west of town and get on the Rt 151 for several breweries. I really don't believe there is a bad brewery in the area. If you may be interested in Rum GBS then definitely swing by Hardywood for that tomorrow at Noon. It's brewery only

If you may be in town tomorrow afternoon as well, and the rain stays away, then there is going to be a Beer Garden / Street Fair on the downtown mall at Brasserie Saison with a bunch of guest breweries. Mostly VA breweries but they will have Surly - Todd the Axeman and BA Pentagram from out of state.

Draft Taproom would also be a good spot to check out. It's a self pour / pay by the ounce taproom / restaurant with 60 taps. 30 of those are typically reserved for VA beer and they get in some stuff other places don't around here because they actually drive out of town and bring kegs back themselves of what is not distributed in the area. if you have Untappd they keep their taplist updated there.

I really enjoy my stops at Beer Run. Originally from Lynchburg I still get back there often and stop a couple few times a year on my way back up here. If I find a great bottle its a bonus I mainly like stopping by the counter because the staff there is so friendly and you're likely to run into a big beer fish there hanging out as well.

BeerRun it is! There are a few other stops around that can sometimes have a few things that go quickly at BR but overall it is your one stop shop. For putting together a mixed sizer or two hit Wine Warehouse. Matt who runs the place is a hell of a guy though BR gets the most allocations due to sales volume.

Thanks again guys. Your advice spawned a great evening. I've been using this site for years and I'm still amazed by the time/effort BAs put into these forums. You're doing God's work; keep it up.
