I had extremely high hopes for Mylar. It nearly met them. It's top notch, and it doesn't suck. Super Dank and Creamy, and pineapple flavors initially (though a lot less than FL Plates)

The first time I had Mylar (I believe it was on tap before they ever canned it) it had this very pronounced lime zest flavor th at hit me right away.

It's super good, I think in a week or two it will be superlative and more zesty/citrus focused instead of more dank.

I thought mylar dreams was super hot. Look forward to another can in a few weeks

However: Oil stacks with vanilla, coconut, and coffee is outstanding.

So, now that we have done our usual weekly ritual of giving line updates, talking about the beer, complaining about line lyfe/Jersey, complaining about case limits...it’s probably time to move on to...

    So, Wednesday “special Thanksgiving” release???!

Maybe not surprising for a beer with "smoke screens" in it's name, but I found this to be too smoky as it warmed.

This beer is good, will go out on a limb and say this doesn't feel like one that will get better with time.

I loved base smokescreens, can't wait to try this variant on tap- is it on now? I was in the taproom half an hour ago but with dog and crowd didn't get to check the board. I did get two growlers of today's releases, sounds like it might be good to hold onto Mylar for a couple days.

Had a taster of each of the midweek releases. I don't know about everyone else but those were probably the least "beer" beers I've had all year, certainly from OH. Sure, they tasted good, but not the kind of thing I would ever crave, or feel satisfied with, when I want a beer. This is of course coming from a beer diet relatively deprived of IPA's; it stands to reason if I'd been polishing off the bitter liquid for the past week I'd maybe want a break from that which these dessert beers would provide.

The only two OH beers that haven't gotten better with time were Topical Depression (passion fruit juice on day one, worse afterwards) and Suparillo.

I wouldn't propose the idea, but some have argued Grape Conversate got better with time. I might argue it just couldn't have gotten worse.

On the subject of aging OH beers, (i know this sounds crazy) ddh green power weirdly tastes like peanut butter and jelly on the finish.

Edit: Jumping jeebus, I rinsed out that can of DDH green power and wasn't it chunky???

Double Edit: This batch of double mosaic is the weakest out of the gate that I've ever had, but will go out on a limb and say this does feel like one that will get better with time.

Ddh green power was fantastic at a few weeks old, melon profile really came out beneath the bitterness of the hops.

How do you guys drink your growlers? Are you sharing them, or are you cool with opening them and putting them back in the fridge for a few days? Or, hey, are you guys finishing 64oz of beer in one sitting?

I've always wanted to do growlers, but between the premium and limitations, I'm a little lost.

I buy 32s if it’s just me and finish them in one go. If people coming over / taking beer to someone’s place, then I buy 64s

I only have 32s and finish in one sitting if sharing; when I drink them alone I give myself 36 hours to finish them and have never had a problem with carb/taste.

I'm thinking that whichever half you occupy means you're not at the other half, and once you get there it'll cease being the other half and become this half. Eventually you'll wind up like the Sneetches and you'll never know which half you belong to, and at that point you'll be happy.

Okay, so I mentioned this before the release, and I think your reactions confirm it... OH should really post case counts. Can think of a ton of other "can release breweries" that regularly do it (Tree House, Trillium, Tired Hands, Bissell, Sand City, etc etc etc), and it makes it way easier on patrons to figure out when they should arrive in order to receive certain beers. The double vs. single batch concept is very helpful, but with an unclear/shifting definition of a batch unit size (I've heard anywhere from 100 cases to 250+, and I suppose it varies based on ABV and a number of other production-specific variables), it's certainly not enough.

@Kanger, I may be overstepping here (but like isn't that what this thread is for? :stuck_out_tongue:), but jw if there is any reason why you guys don't publicly share case counts before the release, even the morning of / night before?

I’m afraid that there may not be a can release next saturday. The rumor is a wednesday release only.

With the success of Florida Plates, a matter of time before they release Jersey Plates... 3 case minimum and free parking in McDonalds's if you have NJ plates.
