Went yesterday and got crowlers, and also had a pint of the pilsner and I gotta say - it was quite good.

It's Nice, crisp, and light. Would make for a nice "lawnmower" or BBQ beer during the spring and summer. There is some hoppiness to it, but very muted which is good.

Also had a taster of the session IPA that was released. It was good, nothing ground breaking. I can't place it, but I feel like I have had this (almost) exact beer by another brewery before. Which is okay, it's a good beer. Just the first thought that jumped out at me as I was drinking it.

I'm just happy they were beers that tasted like beers after the disappointing permanent purgatory.

On the one hand, I think we should defer to the brewer (or any brewer) on the style of beer. On the other hand, knowing the history of session ales, it’s clearly not one. I mostly use Untappd to log and look up particular beers (and sometimes breweries), but rarely by style or ABV, so it doesn’t throw off anything for me.

Any idea if Troon will be open next weekend? Hoping for a Friday visit. Thx

There's no way to know if they'll be open today, let alone next weekend. He only opens when a beer is ready to can & sell, and he usually posts about openings only a few hours before they happen. Your best bet is to keep an eye on this thread and the Troon instagram account. Good luck!

Doesn't matter if he's open or not. You should still stop by the Brick Farm Tavern which pours Troon's beers. It's the only place to get full pours. There's not much to see at Troon itself.

Yeah I heard people waiting 30+ minutes. Weather is way to crappy for that, I guess with no Kane release today, people went to Troon. Wonder how conclave is.

Conclave is pretty good. Gravitational Waves appears to be their most popular beer (IPA). Be warned the tasting room is super small and if it's busy, could feel a bit claustrophobic

Thanks, I've been to conclave a bunch of times.

I meant "I wonder if everyone at Troon went to conclave afterwards"

Let the Devil In is outstanding. First time at Troon today, such a cool little spot. I was at Other Half and was headed back to Philly when the release was announced.. Perfect timing. I wish I had time to eat at Brick Farm... It will be part of my plan next time without a doubt.

I disagree. Permanent purgatory was a terrible malt liquor.

Which I suppose doesn't invalidate your statement, as their normal beers are quite great.

Thinking of stopping by since I got the day off. I’m hoping enough people will still be at work to make this release not too crazy?
