Saw this at my local store in HB yesterday. Decided to buy it with my other purchases. Cost is similar to Simtra. . . .$9.99! I usually dont like to spend 10 for something I've never had. But coming from Knee Deep this could be a hit or miss. I think the overall price for Knee Deep beers are overpriced. But what the heck. I'd give this one a shot like I did with Simtra. I'm not going out of my way to buy Simtra. I've bought 3 bottles since it's release into the market. So has anybody else seen this new "Hop Shortage" or tried it yet? I will try this in the next few days.

Please tell me your local store is Mr Kegs, and you picked up a bottle of just outstanding while you were there? I know I did .

I'll be cracking my bottle tonight after work and share my thoughts if no one beats me to it.

I had a bottle at Beer Revolution. It's very good. I would get a bottle. It's a year round beer so don't bother buying a bunch.

$9.99 is a bit steep but I bought a bottle last weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yup. Picked both and Pumpkin Ale from Mr K yesterday. Almost didn't buy the Hop Shortage as I hate trying new beer for that price. Will probably try tonight after work.

Picked up both the Racer X (2ea) and Hop Shortage (1). Did not try the Hop Shortage yet. Still had a bottle of Stone 16th I needed to get rid of. Will try the Hop Shortage tonight. Mr K still had some bottles of JO yesterday!! And Pumpkin Ale. Cheers.

I'm probably going to end up passing on this and Racer X. I just can't justify $10 of IPA's when I can get cheaper options out there.

I havent tried it yet but would def be interested. I have only had a couple of knee deep beers being that I live in NH but I deffinetly dig that brewery. Sure ten bucks is a little pricey but to be fair generaly speaking craft beer is pricey and often overpriced, not thats its not justified or worth it,alot of times it is. That being said I would spend 10 on simtra anyday, at least when u get to the bottom of the bottle you cant remember what u spent on it anyways! I can think of alot of beers priced the same that dont provide that...cheers

Well worth it....MEH, but to each their own.

Cafe Racer 15 would be if it were bottled.

I found it be just OK. Nothing great, really boozy. I do give it some credibility for not being a malt bomb with the amount of booze it displays.

    Cheers.....

unless you're going to drink them all within 3-6 months I wouldn't buy more than two bottles of any IPA or DIPA.

I got two bottles of it at Whole Foods Laguna Niguel. Pretty good, but not at Simtra's level (Which I like better than Expo, and I'm the biggest Alpine fanboy known to man). So for the price it's a little steep, but I'd never turn a bottle down.

Had a bottle of Simtra last night. With a my second bottle of Hop Shortage in the fridge. Like I said before I cannot see paying $10 for Simtra & Hop Shortage. At least not every week. There are a lot more "betta" IPA/DIPA/TIPA's out there than what Knee Deep is putting out. Not saying that they are bad. I would buy both of these every couple of month. And stick with the usual JO, Duet, Nelson, Pure, etc.

Drinking one right now. And I must say, it's my fav Knee Deep offering. I do like Hoptologist. And Simtra has a nice hop bill (Simcoe and Citra, duh), but it doesn't quite balance the malts, leaving Simtra slightly too sweet and syrupy for me. But this Shortage stuff isn't syrupy at all. Very clean pine and grapefruit rind "bite" to counter the BIG malt presence necessary to achieve the TIPA level. In fact, this beer drinks WAY too easy for an 11.3% triple. Only as it warms do you taste a little heat (and sweet). Cold out of the fridge, it tastes like a blend of Ruination and Torpedo.
Waitwaitwait- a better description is Hoptimum and Palate Wrecker. Yep, I'm comfortable with that.
[But, as I empty the bomber, it's a beer (much like Alpine Expo) that I prefer ice-cold. As it warms, it progressively becomes more sweet and boozy.]
