We've been there a couple of times in late October and I swear the Germans are trying to cook us. The heat is on no matter the outside temp.

Der Pelikan in Bamberg usually has a "Best of Bock" festival in late November. Also around then the Schlenkerla Eiche is released. I've been in early December but never late November (She Who Must Be Obeyed would have tender parts removed if I was drinking beer in Bamberg over Thanksgiving  )

Der Pelikan also has some amazing food, too. Some of the best Thai cuisine I've had anywhere.

Currently having a Ayinger Helles from the Holzfass, delicious, but due to it being all saints day you could hear a church mouse fart in here.

No Steckerlfisch yet, but the Fisch Brötchen at the Viktualienmarkt is delicious and Löwenbräu helles isn’t half bad either. Kloster Andechs, Nürnberger Glockl am Dom have been the highlights so far. Track works on the S7 may mean I miss Ayinger. Could take the bus, or remove my fingernails with pliers - it may be less painful.

Weisses on a Sunday morning is a fav of mine, Get there early to get a seat in the front. Several stammtisch tables with people in trachten, They usually have a band. Weisswurst and a Schneider at 9am are a great way to start the day.

Might head there before my train to Nuremberg. Went on the first day at 10am but it was full of drunks, still the Weißwurst was good. Currently drinking half litres of HB UrBock at the chineserturm, 16c with the sun out, autumn leaves in full force - my brag for the day.

    Hi smithflipper,
I'm an Australian living in Bamberg. If you want to meet for a Schlenkerla Urbock while you're in town let me know.

My wife and I are headed to Bamberg on Friday to enjoy a stuffed onion and great beer and I suppose the christmas market also, but on our way there I'm debating on stopping either at Brauerei Witzgall or Brauerei Gastwirtschaft Lieberth has anyone been to either of these and could make a recommendation as to one or the other?

Great recommendation, although kellerbier isn't one of my favorite styles of beer this is one of the most impressive beers I've ever drank. It's truly pure malt that your drinking, I've only experienced a beer with this amount of pure maltiness 1 other time.

I had to look that one up. Not a bad walk from the train station. Noted for next time.

My bad, it was one of my numerous attempts to brew something along the styles of Malzmuhle Kolsch. I brewed a great beer, but not a Kolsch by any means, 66% Floor Malted Bohemian Pils, 30% Ireks Pale Malt, 3% Carabohemian and 1% Saurmalz. Floor Malted Bohemian Pils is a great malt, but doesn't belong in a Kolsch bier. Although I'm gonna brew this malt bill again with a Bavarian Lager yeast to see if I can get something close to Witzgall.
